Yeah they are just deplorable losers. I’m sure that’s it.
3   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Aug 21, 8:58pm

Nothing says law and order than Sanctuary Cities and trying to abolish ICE.
4   FortWayne   2018 Aug 21, 9:35pm

They call it diversity these days.

I mean you’re the one who said it’s trending on Facebook. So yea, pretty much

I hope that’s the way most leftist view this movement.
6   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Aug 21, 9:57pm

And MSNBC says "Fox News is talking about some girl"... from "Iowa".

7   Goran_K   2018 Aug 21, 10:03pm

There’s a reason why no one watches these leftist networks anymore.

8   BayArea   2018 Aug 21, 10:21pm

What a sad sad conclusion.

I can’t imagine what these parents are going through.

Especially when they see Nancy Pelosi get in front of congress on CSPAN and lecture Americans about the beauty of “brown skin” and how we should should embrace illegals and pay for their healthcare and schooling.

Yes, Iowa City was a sanctuary city.

That would be all those leftist nancy pelosi supporting farmers in rural Iowa that cry they can't make it without their illegals to do the farming? Ya think? How is it that the god fearing church going people in a rural town in Iowa they lived in for generations weren't aware of illegals living in their midsts and failed to report them to ICE? Oh right, they were doing the work that Americans wouldn't do. They hired them, they let them live there now it's everyone else's fault when it blows up in their faces? What a joke. Lie down with dogs, come up with fleas.

"We are angry that a broken immigration system allowed a predator like this to live in our community" Kansas Governor Reynolds. Oh my the system allowed a predator to live in the community. After all no one noticed a mexican living in brooklyn iowa (95.1% white), no one at all. Fucking hypocrites.
13   clambo   2018 Aug 22, 5:40am

Unlike most people, I've lived and worked in Mexico. After this, I lived in California.

I recall Lyndon Johnson declaring "a war on poverty." We have lost that war, but continue to fight it.
If we want to decrease income disparity, increase social mobility, increase wages, increase wealth, make the government serve its citizens (owners) then why the hell do we allow the influx of millions of poor and ignorant?

The arguments for importing foreign labor are the same as for slavery; "Who will pick the cotton" is now "Who will pick the lettuce" or "Who will wash the dishes."

Even liberals are fed up with the foreign invasion. Some liberals are also fed up with the abuse of H1-B visas.

Yes a few posts up where he deflects from the fact that Iowa City is a sanctuary city and blames the tiny city of Brooklyn Iowa where the girl's body was found.

No, the argument is that America is the great melting pot where people can come for a better life.

The xenophobic, foreign invasion argument is the same one that has been made throughout history. When the Irish came. When the Chinese came

Yes, if you come in legally.

I know Democrats tend to have an extremely tough time distinguishing between legal/illegal, but the difference is important.

The news kept calling her a college student so I incorrectly assumed that's where the murder happened. Turns out Brooklyn is only 40 miles west of town. Do you not think a sanctuary city would result in more criminal behavior from illegals in the entire area? Where did the perp live? Not exactly a lot of details out there

What changed? We dramatically increased our welfare systems and entitlements.

As Europe (and California) is quickly figuring out, you can have generous entitlement systems or open borders. You can't have both.

Good grief is right. You said thing have changed and we dramatically increased our spending. That doesn't happen without a law passing. You know this, right?

I'm asking which laws were passed that caused this dramatic uptick in spending.

(linking to a website showing $$ spent doesn't answer that question)

Not going to do your homework.

If you are really not aware that America's welfare and entitlement system has DRAMATICALLY increased with the "New Deal" and Johnson's "War on Poverty" - let alone Bush Jr.s expansion of Medicare - you don't even have an 8th grade level grasp on history.

So, you're basically saying you made it up. Got it.

Next time just do a bit of research before making ridiculous statements like that.

And fyi-don't make me laugh with references to a law from 1930s causing the recent uptick

Let's see. I provided you a reputable link showing the dramatic increase in America's entitlement spending over the last 100 years.

Then you asked for specific laws. So I cited the New Deal, War on Poverty and expansion of Medicare - which are some of most consequential and most known laws ever passed in this country.

Seriously, is any of this stuff in debate?

It is in the eyes of a person who is so blinded that their party can do no wrong, its winning and I'm right at all costs.

And before he comes out with some bullshit saying the same, I think far more people in the middle and right have a lot of issues with their side that they are pissed off about that has nothing to do with winning, loosing, feelings, or anything to do with the left even if you remove the extremes.

My lord--this is just another example in the dishonest argument camp of Trump cultists. Let's recap.

Poster asked why all of the sudden we need a wall or ICE after not having it for 100+ years. You responded the welfare benefits have increased dramatically.
I asked when that happened. Eventually you said there were laws passed 80 years ago. I guess it takes illegals 4 generations to get the message, huh?

Not to mention that illegals don't qualify for the majority of the welfare aid anyway.
