Nancy Pelosi: “It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. You demonize, and then you — we call it the ‘wrap up’ smear, if you want to talk ‘politics’. We call it the ‘wrap-up’ smear.

You smear somebody, with falsehoods and all the rest, and then you ‘merchandise’ it. And then you (pointing to the press) write it, and they’ll say “See, it’s reported in the press, that this, this, this and this…” so they have that validation, that the press reported the ‘smear’, and then it’s called ‘the wrap-up smear’.

Now I’m going to ‘merchandise’ the press’ report, on the smear, that we made.

And it’s, it’s a tactic. And it’s self-evident.”

"What we need is more PSYOP Shirley Temples with implanted memories tear jerking for our fake news media. The sex allegation toad sticker LIVES! Let it destroy the lives of the accursed male dominators of the right!"

BELIEVE THE PSYOPS PUPPETS! The leftist zombie army of sex accusers will overwhelm and conquer!

I would have more respect for you guys if your attitude was more along the lines of, "yeah, he was an asshole in his youth. It's hard to know exactly how much of an asshole, but there is plenty of evidence, including a police report from an incident at a bar."

"But we just don't care. "

Instead you want to talk about how low the democrats have gone. What do you expect after Obama couldn't fill an open seat, and then Trump is putting another conservative on the court.

Republicans are bad sports. They can't win with any dignity whatsoever. I'm surprised you guys don't actually brag about all the gerrymandering and voter suppression. (rather than just ignoring it or denying it).

Gee Marcus wonder why the Liberals didn't want to read through Kavanaugh's thousands upon thousands of his Law career when Trump first announced him as the pick.
They started working on this Ford smear and did not do anything in good faith afforded to their office. The official course would have been to ask for it in July. But instead they waited the week that the Debate was going to start. Then they demanded all of those publications only because they wanted to delay and prevent the process. Now up to this point they had been sitting on the Ford accusation and it should have been sent to the FBI to investigate and validate. But no they waited until they lost the debate because they knew he had an impeccable career and they couldn't smear him on it. So the day the debate was over they dropped Sally Ford which should have been known to the FBI since 4 months ago.

Marcus the Liberals absolutely ZERO right to the Moral Highroad so don't even try, it's just making you look even more pathetic as a Liberal.

Does that answer your question about OUR demeanor?

Give me one credible example of "Voter Suppression".

As for Gerrymandering I live in a Country where the Republican Candidate running against Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the seemingly most vile candidate on the planet and an easy political target. But our Republican Candidate is only a Strawman for the Broward County Republican Party which is a members only Club(I tried to join) of Liberals keeping the seat warm. This guy has no plans winning this Guy should be a household name on every TV set in Ameirca. I have first hand account from a GOP State Party official, that Kauffman flat out refused any help or any support from the State Republican party. Now my District lines have been redrawn at least 5 times in the last 16 years. I have had to vote at as many different precincts. Now there's no real Republican threat in any race during that time. Can you explain to me why Liberals would Gerrymander a district that has no bearing or outcome on any National or State Election?

It damn sure wasn't the Republicans shoving me and my vote around. Now why is that?

Without knowing somebody personally with one police report about throwing ice (lol) at somebody at a bar and 3rd party reports of occasional heavy drinking in high school/college you can't say shit about a person. Could be the nicest guy ever. It reads pretty much like every other guys resume. Nobody said he is the nicest guy ever, we just said there's zero evidence or reports of anything that would preclude this guy from taking any job.

I guess I am one of those in the camp of not caring even if what Ford said was true. I don't think we want to go down the path of holding someone accountable for what they did in high school, when there were no previous complaints, no evidence, denials by others supposedly present, etc... But, whatever. I understand this is politics...

More to the point from Marcus, I think this was an extremely frustrating time for the Democrats. They decided to try and use the SC nomination as part of the mid-term election process, and frankly it was a great strategy at first. Holding back info until the last minute, etc... The goal was to motivate the base, hopefully deny Trump a successful appointment before the mid terms, and utilize "me too" as a democrat weapon. It would have worked in normal situations, but Trump and the Republican's (barley got on board) actually decided to fight back. I was thinking when this first started that Trump would pull the nomination or K would step aside.

I frankly don't think we would have seen this sort of reaction and tactics if this nomination had been in the middle of next year....

I don't think the Dems really thought they could take the Senate, but who knows. As 2016 showed, you never really know what is going to happen in an election. It was an excellent political strategy and Republicans should take it as such and appreciate the tactical move. People take this stuff way to personally...

Looking at the polling, in fact this may back-fire on the Democrats as Trump and mainstream Republicans "appear" to be on the same page. The division between the admin and general Republicans is on the mend as they unified around K, which should help in the upcoming elections. I was estimating that Republicans would get an additional Senate seat and lose the house. Now, I predict they will pick up four Senate seats and hold the house (barely) because the Democrats over-played their hand,. If, of course, the Republicans can translate the K hearings into ads, etc... S

As Marcus knows, the extremes of either party will vote their candidate "no matter what". And, most of the folks on this board are one or the other. But, if you talk to folks who are not partisan, I think real damage was done for the Democrats attracting middle of the road voters.

And, btw, gerrymandering has been used by both political parties since time immemorial. It is the right of the party that controls the state government.

Far nicer track record than my college friends, but maybe ya'll ran w wimps. Even my most passive friends found themselves part of generic bar fights from time to time. Throwing ice is basically like saying, "he socialized in college."

We REALLY don't want to go down the path of what somebody did in High School/College, esp. if they have a sterling record as an adult and a now middle aged.

The Enlightenment won against the Post-Modern Wild Hunt, complete with Shrieking Banshees and Harpies. The standard of that evidence is needed to make a decision, and that we should not penalize people over mere accusations with no backing, was upheld.

Because the dems don't seem to get it...Trump is not a status quo politician. He doesn't react like a typical politician. He's a wild card, an unpredictable fighter and they want to try to maneuver him as if he was a Bush or an Obama. His number one priority isn't to protect his job at all costs so threatening him doesn't work.
