Now that Democrats are on the record for being against a border wall, voters will hold them accountable for a policy of open borders; if the border crises spills into U.S. cities, and the crises effects U.S citizens directly in a dramatic way, Democrats stand to loose in the 2020 election.

Statistics show, U.S. citizens see immigration reform as a high priority.

A national survey commissioned by America First Policies in September, 2017, show American voters support law enforcement solutions to immigration problems, and a merit-based system of legal immigration.

82 percent of respondents support Kate’s Law, named after Kate Steinle, who was shot and killed in 2015, by an illegal immigrant in San Francisco.

76 percent of respondents said they support increasing the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

“64 percent support the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act, which would cut some federal grants to cities that refuse to turn over criminal illegal aliens.”

“73 percent would support a new requirement that incoming immigrants must be able to support themselves financially.”

STATISTICS FROM: https://www.americafirstpolicies.org/updates/survey-reveals-large-majority-of-voters-support-law-enforcement-and-merit-b/

Left-wing biased polling data skews the results to make most citizens think a majority of Americans favor immigration policies that provide a pathway to citizenship.

For example, an NBC poll described the 800,000 illegal aliens in DACA as “children” — even though their average age is roughly 25. A Politico poll described the DACA illegals as sympathetic and admirable “dreamers.” Neither poll provided readers with any numbers about wages, population numbers or unemployment, nor did they remind respondents that the illegals were getting work permits to compete for jobs against Americans.

How did Recep Tayyip Erdoğan manage to vaporize Jamal Kashogi asking for a Mexican Mayor.

Are you so sure about that? Once you have flooded a state with illegals, that state becomes blue. What happened in Orange County? Do you see California doing anything about illegals anytime soon? Virginia is a now a blue state as well, with the Washington DC suburb population of government workers and the high population of illegals.

The problem in US is illogical lefties more than anything else. Mexicans have tons of common sense, so their response to crisis is logical - get illegals out. Lefty response to crisis is ORANGE MAN BAD, ORANGE MAN EVIL, LETS BRING IN MORE ILLEGALS.
In TX, the bluest areas are where transplants from Clownifornia have settled. Not where Hispanics live.

Maybe. But check out how the Texas counties that border Mexico have turned blue. I agree that many Hispanic CITIZENS vary in politics from red to blue, but funny how all those places with high concentrations of illegals are suddenly blue.

Those have been blue forever. However, in rural counties along TX/Mexico border something is changing: https://www.star-telegram.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article218724190.html. This district had been Democratic for 130+ years.
I don't think that illegals influence vote in any significant way at least in TX (a few hundred voting will matter only in very close votes). Think about this - Austin, populated by damned Yankee libruls is bluer than Valley, which is 90+ % Hispanic.
Edit: map of 19 which went R - straddles border and San Antonio, 66% Hispanic. If illegals would have mattered R's would not have won it

maybe even a future Dem POTUS will be forced to play that card at re-election time, albeit more behind the scenes

Dems are for more border security, even a wall. They jjust don't want to give this president any wins. That's what this is about.

Don't you mean if republicans can make it in to even more of a supposed crisis than they already have ?

Meanwhile, back on planet earth we're at close to full employment. Are there really people that think that if we get rid of all the undocumented workers, that salaries (in real dollars) will go up ? I think we would just get inflation, with employers passing the costs on to consumers. This would be great for Trump.

As for the costs of services to all those people ? Their children will be tax paying citizens, which we actually need going forward. Who do you think is going to be paying for your medicare and social security ?

We could easily increase legal immigration of high quality immigrants who will very likely consume less welfare and contribute more to society.

I think for just about every problem caused by cessation of the flow of illegals, a better solution exists which involves legal immigrants.

This trend of illegals + free shit is so damn dangerous. It needs to stop.

These arguments that try to calculate some path to saying "the illegals are actually good" miss the point that it doesn't even matter if they're actually good for us - the point is that we have better options.

My anecdote from my own life: my chinese friend from college, who recently graduated here in the bay area, just had to go back to china because of unfortunate personal circumstances that pushed him over his limited budget of days unemployed after graduating college. I don't really understand how the whole work visa stuff works, but he said his ran out, and so he abided by the law and went back. Now china has a skilled and enthusiastic software engineer competing against the usa, instead of playing for our team like he wanted to. Meanwhile, another illegal jumps the fence, and people cheer.

If illegal immigration had truly mattered and folks wanted it stopped, then the Republicans would have kept the house instead of losing it outright. They did not. So, there is a significant number of people that see illegal immigration as a non-issue, whether for social justice reasons or practical economic needs.

"Social Justice Reasons" = Virtue Signaling
"Practical Economic Needs" = undercutting worker wages

No. They didn't, in spite of what your blog post might claim. Good try, though

I don't think they are actually good. But we have relatively good border security and not a lot of people coming in from the southern border compared to 10 to 15 years ago. The wall Trump say is being built is just repairs to fencing that was already there.

My argument pertains to illegals already here, and to the relatively small number that continue to come in.

Yeah, yeah. It's NPR. But they are using government data. Not that anyone even cares about the truth. It's all about the political game anymore.
