Ok, what the fuck?

When I lived in the East Bay, gas station car washes were everywhere. You fill up your tank, pay an extra $7, and you drive thru the car wash. Done, easy.

Since moving on the Peninsula (San Carlos), all I see around here are the super expensive ($25-50) car washes. Why are there no gas station car washes around here??

$25-50 is outrageous.

Side effect of prop-13 that force not to build any more to meet the massive demand. Existing RE prices are going up so does the new lease. All other old and new matches this new price including prop-13 subsidy recipients. Repeal prop-13 and get uniform tax for all to be fare and restore the market economy.

Because Fuckbook now pays $200K to new grads they hire, that's why.

Might be a customer trend as well. I had trouble finding one in Chula Vista the other week. More people seem to go for the $15 wash with hand dry now days.

Right - we just need to raise taxes in California even higher, that will fix the problem!

Because we all know the Commies running the state in Sacramento will put that money to good use making California more livable for the middle class.

There is one at the intersection of E Hillsdale and S Norfolk in San Mateo (Shell brand). Don't know about price though - haven't washed my car there for years.

I like to wait until it's raining and then go out to the car with my sponge and bucket of soapy water. It's not as good as if you actually broke out a hose, but it's works reasonably well on the parts of your car where it actually works, and at least the water doesn't leave hard water spots on your car, and is super easy to do. Of course you have to live someplace where it actually rains. Car washes in Maryland are expensive too. Even automatic ones I have seen are at least $9, and I would never pay that much. I will try take a picture at the pump next time I see it advertised.

Prop-13 do not stop or protect from higher taxes for new purchases as it resets to market rate.
People start liking it as the prop-13 tax subsidies goes higher and higher paid by new buyers. Great ethics.

Can you explain, why similar neighbors pay vastly different property taxes of similar properties.

That's what's nice about the rainy season. I finally get my car washed AND for free!
