Alabama lawmakers have passed a bill that would require pedophiles to undergo chemical castration as a condition of their parole.

The new bill would require the felons to take medication that interferes with their sex drive.

Castration could be reversed by stopping the medication. According to the bill, a court would decide when to do that.

"They're going to challenge it under the Eighth Amendment Constitution, Attorney Raymond Johnson told the news outlet. "They're going to claim that it is cruel and unusual punishment for someone who has served their time."

Although this is a heinous crime that calls out retribution and punishment, and while this may stop attacks form happening in the future, (that is a big if) If the courts approve of this bill and it's already legal in several other states, then this is the end of body autonomy and the beginning of the government telling you what you can do and cannot do with your own body. They already tell you what substances you can and can not put into your body, so this furthers that policy and shows you are not truly free in America. How long before the government makes it mandatory for every citizen to be chipped, tracked, and easily eliminated?
