Taking to social media, Ocasio-Cortez displayed her angst over first daughter Ivanka Trump accompanying her father, President Donald Trump, to the G-20 summit held in Japan.
“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification. It hurts our diplomatic standing when the President phones it in & the world moves on. The US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either,” the first-term lawmaker tweeted.
Lost in the mix for Ocasio-Cortez and those eager to criticize all things Trump is that Ivanka, who was an executive vice president with the Trump Organization, is not only first daughter, but an official White House advisor to the president.
And while the president is routinely criticized for being sexist, his daughter took to Twitter to note a milestone in the Japan trade talks.
“The United States is the only country in the G20 with an entirely female negotiating team representing President Trump and advancing his priorities,” she tweeted ahead of the visit.
And while Ocasio-Cortez did nothing to advance the empowerment of women, Ivanka did when she addressed the G20 Summit leaders, the Daily Mail reported.

“We believe that women’s inclusion in the economy is not solely a social justice issue, which of course it is, it’s also smart economic and defense policy,” she said, as a proud father looked on.
