Coppola is a senior software engineer at Google who works on artificial intelligence and the Google Assistant:

“I look at search and I look at Google News and I see what it’s doing and I see Google executives go to Congress and say that it’s not manipulated. It’s not political. And I’m just so sure that’s not true.”

COPPOLA: I’ve been coding since I was ten [years old.] I have a PhD, I have five years’ experience at Google and I just know how algorithms are. They don’t write themselves. We write them to do what want them to do.”

I imagine HeyYou, Rafi and others are simply AI also.

Hell fuckin ya.

People are starting to stand up to this corruption of our information systems.

IMO Greg Coppola (the google engineer in this story) is a patriot who sacrificed his job, and maybe career, to shine light on this problem.

Even if "the algorithms" aren't politically skewed, the data the feeds the algorithms is. If nothing else, Google products are opaque services. We should be skeptical of these services, especially if there is empirical evidence they are manipulated.

Yes it's obvious that Google uses some technology to slant search results; it's kind of interesting although annoying also.

Too bad because I like gmail and google photos.
