And a Great Idea for America, too.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer has announced the government will be cracking down on Syrians with asylum status who go on holiday back to Syria.

Bavarian centre-right leader Horst Seehofer said that the government would be looking to strip Syrians who visit their home country on holiday of their asylum status, saying that those who regularly travel to the country cannot make a serious claim that they are being persecuted there, Kronen Zeitung reports.

“We have to deprive them of their refugee status,” Seehofer added and said that the Interior Ministry was monitoring any such activity from Syrians with refugee status living in Germany.

He also said that the government was watching the situation inside Syria closely and said, “If the situation permits, we will carry out repatriations.”

The revelations of asylum seekers and refugees making holidays in their home countries — where they allegedly fled persecution — are not a new development. As early as January of 2017 it was shown that asylum seekers in Switzerland were using welfare cash to go on vacations to Eritrea, despite claiming they risked death if they were ever sent back to the country.

Mein peepee got a semi. Finally they maybe just maybe wake the fuck up. Is it too much to ask that they notice the puppet strings too?

They should have said nothing and let them find out when they tried to return.

How is this not a law on the books anyway for asylum seekers in any country? Seems like common sense and I frankly thought a protection like this would have already been in place.

You left your shithole because you feared for your life supposedly. You should be banned from returning for at minimum 5 years regardless of any governmental changes that would freely allow you to return with no risk to your life. We need to protect these people from themselves I guess, or they're lying.

Nobody should be banned. Monitor the fuckers and revoke asylum if they visit the shithole they were supposedly running in fear for their life originally.

I get the sentiment for sure. Honestly, I don't know why we even need to take on asylum seekers unless they're from a bordering country (Mexico or Canada basically, which means zero asylum seekers for the most part). Especially if you crossed a fucking ocean to get here. There's likely a safe country for you much, much closer. It doesn't make any sense.

I have a coworker who immigrated from Cuba with asylum. He hasn’t been back in 40 years.
That’s asylum.

What percentage of today’s refugees are really refugees?

Most come for a better life compared to where they came from (understandable), but I doubt that the majority are “refugees”.
