Sanders’ plan, released Monday, comes after weeks of criticizing the mainstream media for negative coverage of his campaign. In particular, his proposals target large media industry players and would enforce strict antitrust laws to prevent Facebook and Google, online advertisement giants, from using their “monopolistic control” to financially undermine smaller news organizations.

Last week, campaign officials again criticized the Washington Post, saying a story about the Vermont senator including a role for private insurers in his Medicare for All plan was inaccurate. One policy adviser for Sanders even tweeted that the story was “bogus.”

"[President Donald] Trump's authoritarian bullying of the media is totally unacceptable," writes Sanders even as he lays out his plans to limit the ability of, for instance, Jeff Bezos to run The Washington Post as he sees fit. "We should not," avers the senator, want even more of the free press to be put under the control of a handful of corporations and "benevolent" billionaires who can use their media empires to punish their critics and shield themselves from scrutiny.

So when Trump calls out Jeff Bezos for publishing "fake news" and threatens him with libel and other actions, he is an authoritarian bully who must be stopped. But when Bernie Sanders does exactly the same thing, he is a savior to an industry that has arguably been battered more by the gale of creative destruction than any other in the past 25 years or so.

MEANWHILE:

The “Beto” O’Rourke’s campaign ejected a Breitbart News reporter from a speech at Benedict College, a historically black college, on Tuesday afternoon.
A member of the O’Rourke campaign staff, who said his name was “Steven” and would not give a last name, said that I was being ejected because I had been “disruptive” at past events.

How was this reporter disruptive?

This reporter asked a question during a press gaggle on Monday evening; that was the only interaction of any kind with the candidate.

The question asked the Democratic presidential hopeful whether misquoting Trump’s comments on riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017 was consistent with O’Rourke’s pledge to “heal” and not “inflame” divisions in this country.

It seems the left is all for the freedom of the press unless the story is unflattering to them. Don’t fool yourself. Certain aspects of Sanders’ plan sound good, like not letting these mega mergers occur, but he is about 20 years too late to stop this from happening since Bush II allowed this to happen and actively encouraged it.

Government control of the media is what they have in communist China. Being a socialist, Bernies’ true intentions are suspect. It is likely he wants to control what the papers print by labeling what is true news and what is fake. A very dangerous road to go down.
