Not just closing them, taking away the power of Authorities to forcibly hospitalize people like Nic Cruz.

Based on the original California Laws, Florida officials were powerless to do any more than order a 72-hour hold.

Lol not exactly. The current clusterfuck existing only in Democrat runlarge coastal cities is a manufactured crisis where the politicians were working with multiple organizations including the ACLU in an attempt to force government built housing.

For instance in Los Angeles on skid row, through a decade plus of law enforcement actions against the gangs that provided drugs there, buy the depths of the Depression in 2009-2011, the homeless population was smaller than the number of beds available. Only due to a lawsuit filed by the ACLU and through direction of Mayor Eric Garcetti and a compliant bitch of a police Chief Charlie Beck, was the LAPD forced to stand down and stop arresting the homeless on skid row for anything other than major felonies. And the population boomed.

Nearby cities were not sued and continue the same tactics that let to the 2009-2011 bottom in homeless population on skid row. This continues to where the streets bordering Culver City, Burbank, and elsewhere have homeless only living on the City of Los Angeles side of the street.

Orange County was also sued by the ACLU yet in less than 2 years were able to end a nearly half mile encampment of homeless drug addicts that existed right outside Angels Stadium.

It’s all disgusting because if anyone challenged the ACLU lawsuits to the SCOTUS, it would result in a finding that the courts can’t order cities to build public housing. Which of course these scumbag democrats absolutely don’t want to see happen.
