Flashback: Obama Admin Asked Ukraine to Investigate Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort

Former federal prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy noted at National Review on Thursday that then-President Barack Obama’s administration asked Ukraine to investigate Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, in 2016.

McCarthy notes the double standard — that Democrats want to impeach Trump for doing what Obama did — and which they have been telling the world for years was necessary to do to protect American national security.

I've heard rumors that Manafort is in Federal prison after losing several court cases. The problem with this "what aboutism" is that as I've written before, the cases are different. There is/was an on going US investigation of Manafort's dealings in Ukraine and other matters. it is not only proper but necessary for foreign countries to cooperate with the Justice department. That was the case with Manafort. That was not the case with Biden(s). In Biden question Trump is/was pushing a foreign government to open an investigation of an American citizen, in this instance his political rival. That is not kosher. If there were violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act or other laws and Justice had started an investigation Trumps intervention would be somewhat similar (aside from Biden being his political rival) that was not the case. Maybe Trump lovers find this distinction too complex? It doesn't fit into a one line sound bite. So this post is probably a waste of time. But 50 k a month for sitting on board of directors so they can use your name and hope for influence is not illegal, maybe it should be but it isn't, what Manafort did by not reporting his income from Ukraine was illegal. He was convicted. Capisce?

Excellent. So it's okay for the President to ask foreign officials to help with US criminal investigations.

It's very kosher if Biden misused his Obama-granted Ukraine portfolio to prevent investigation of the company his son was a board member of.

Biden's candidacy doesn't immunize him from criminal investigations and charges.

Whereas Obama used FISA warrants to spy on the Trump Campaign, which is NOT a criminal investigation, but an intelligence one.

One of the things Manafort was accused (convicted?) of was failing to register as a foreign lobbyist. I think it's fair to say that is the only thing Hunter was being paid for.

Trump's crowd was distinguished in its stupidity by accepting the services of a guy who appeared out of nowhere - the fucking Ukraine - running the campaign of an organized crime figure fronting for Putin - and said he would work for FREE! because LOVE! and didn't think it would attract the interest of intelligence and defense agencies.

If I were Obama I'd have asked how I could warn the campaign out loud to prevent a train wreck. He might have and the answer might well have come back that Trump has hired a crew that we've been following for years and you get in the way, or warn off the targets, it's obstruction.

Fucking idiot never intended to form a government. I saw a run on video of a press event at the White House with Trump and Obama and Obama told him after he asked about transition staff that the White House's basic administration required thousands of hires just to keep EOP moving and that staff was all leaving with the outgoing administration. Trump looked at his shoes. It was just plain sad and frightening. The only guy in the place that would give him any clue as to the mundane housekeeping work he had in front of him was a guy he shit on for four years solid.

If that is true, of which there are only conspiracy theories and Trump wet dreams for evidence, then it is it should have been an investigation that originated in the the US. Shall we have the (any) President conducting investigations of his political opponents by using the government of a foreign country? Even the most insane Trump cult members have to see that as not a good idea? Yeah they probably think it fine as long as it helps their leader.. But with Trump's control of the Justice dept, they cant find evidence to pursue said investigation(s) what does that tell you? And what about all of Clinton's crimes why no investigations, you know lock her up? and Obama too, totally corrupt indict them all. They cant even get an indictment against Andrew Mccabe and lost a case against Creg Craig. Of course its the deep state.

It looks to me that the chosen one genius, 17 dimensional chess master has gotten his fat tit in a wringer by believing in nonsense theories about Biden and the DNC server, what an idiot. in other words he drank his own cool aid of lies, believed and acted in a totally stupid and corrupt way to get to the bottom of a pile of crap. When he got to the bottom; what he found was a mirror and it had his reflection in it.

"Failing to register as a foreign agent" is apparently only enforced when a politically motivated conviction is required. Granted, Manafort was hip-deep in white-collar crime and is doing time for it. But nothing related to the election, just a witch hunt to smear Trump.

Once the gubmint begins a high-dollar investigation, SOMEONE is getting convicted of SOMETHING. Just ask Martha Stewart.
