Also saw a video of Hong Kong using them to keep government snipers from shooting.

How can lasers be used against snipers?

Yep. You'd see snipers on the roof and a bunch of lasers targeting their face.

From the article:

If the drone was being flown manually by an operator watching through a first-person video, the bright lights might have blinded the camera, causing the operator to lose control. Alternatively, “low powered lasers have the ability to interfere with [infrared] landing sensors,” as well as the downward-facing cameras that detect obstacles below, “forcing a landing or uncontrolled drone behavior,” Williams said.

All sensors can be disabled. Given the size of even some "pro"sumer drones, it would be impossible to interfere and track a drone with a laser pen if it was moving even at 4-5mph and include any vertical movement. I could see the sniper thing being possible as that's a lager, stationary object. The drone thing is clearly a moron operator or a poorly researched article.

This is why I don't fear Skynet(Killer robot and autonomous drones) and realize it is pure Science fiction.

There's plenty of lethal perils out there, a self aware self replicating cognitive robots are not one of them.
