https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/nov/16/son-of-jailed-radicals-reviled-by-the-police-union-now-chesa-boudin-is-san-franciscos-top-cop

The local deputy sheriffs union shared a video declaring him the “son of terrorists”. The police union called him the “#1 choice of criminals and gang members”. But after five days of vote tabulations and a narrow 2,500-vote lead, Chesa Boudin is San Francisco’s next top cop.

The son of two leftwing Weather Underground radicals who served as the getaway drivers in a 1981 armored car heist that left two police officers and a guard dead, Boudin last week won the race for San Francisco district attorney, vowing to bring change to a city with a liberal reputation that it has not always earned. ...

As district attorney, he’ll be top prosecutor, but he has never tried a case. His courtroom experience began on the other side of the aisle, at the public defender’s office, providing legal defense to those who could not afford it. His critics and opponents seized on his distinct resume, with some likening his candidacy to electing a fox to guard the henhouse. ...

Now the race is won, district attorney-elect Boudin will have the power to determine the kind of law enforcement that takes place in the city. By directing which cases his line prosecutors will and will not charge, Boudin ultimately decides the type of cases police officers pursue.

Uh oh.

Wtf is SF doing? Are they committing suicide? This is stupid, on a long list of stupid choices.

But remember @Patrick, the real problem in US is 5000 KKK members, not 1.4M gang members

Not "gang members".

Underprivileged youth organizations, please

Lol.

Cali government is already rotten, wasteful and corrupt, with a tax appetite that is gargantuan. What worries me is what happens when the myriad business and middle class who are the tax victims have finally fled, we have the next tech meltdown, and we are stuck with illegals, welfare sucklers, and the islands of coastal elites? The rich will bail eventually, too, as the upper middle class is beginning to do. Then, you have a swarming state full of criminals, uncontrollable gangs, tax pirates, and gated mansions with private guards.

Freeway barricades with gangs demanding tolls and ransoms? Kidnappings like in Mexico? Riots as the welfare tits dry up? Martial law with pockets of protected elites? Instead of cities or counties, all these dump trucks full of Dem voting illegals and third worlders will just retract to form their own local mini-governments and start fighting and attacking each other?

Police have already demonstrated that property crime, public urination/defecation/ burglary, etc. are non-starters, and they only will show up for inter personal violence, murder, and rampant obvious mayhem. Your property is your problem. Felons and multi-offending probationers/ druggies are just recycled back onto the streets.

Logical question - why the fuck we need police then. Just arm citizenry, and 50% of your local taxes supporting lazy HEROES! IN! BLUE! will go away.

That's true if you have a properly armed and trained citizenry. Always worthwhile. However cops are often painted in a very bad light, many of them do good work and are not lazy, it's when the government cruft comes in stuff goes wrong. There's nothing wrong with a paid police force either, a combo of both would be best IMO.

To stack irony on irony, protecting yourself in California just opens you up to legal liability to be fleeced by the LibbyFuckLand Attorney Wolf Pack.

So, the police won't do squat for most of what they were hired to do, and you can't protect yourself. It's the perfect Great Socialist Paradise "Fuck You" to the beleaguered citizenry.

What you say is true, many of them care about what they do and the job overall is quite stressful.

The problem tho is that we are getting a really, really shitty service by paying quite a lot, and then we keep paying their retirement benefits for 45 years after they have worked for 20-25 years. And on top of that, police is a kind of mafia, where they can do no wrong. A policewammin barging into someones house in Dallas and shooting him dead gets 10 yrs, while the rest of us would get life in prison.

And remember Trump. This is Trump's fault.

This is why I've said in the past people need to be way more focused on local government and not having a temper tantrum over who is POTUS. If you're half the population that doesn't pay federal taxes, then I honestly don't understand why you even care who the President is anyway. Not like they're wasting any of your money. Sales tax, state income tax, property tax, vehicle registration fees are all waaaaaaaay more impactful on the average citizen. Overly simplified and mostly true though.

Not saying don't vote for POTUS, just understand that you should be having temper tantrums over this example and mayors, police chief, district attorney, etc. And then there's the fact that almost no American will EVER encounter a full fledged KKK member, but will most certainly pay property and sales tax if they're a living, breathing human.

On the bright side, due to its geography, SF would be very easy to isolate by only handful of strategically placed checkpoints.

True, with a few exceptions maybe. At least most parts of NYC turned out pretty well for a mostly liberal city, of course not as lunatic as the fringe west coast cities. There's still common sense there and of course there was Rudy who cleaned it up nicely. New Yorkers have a lot lot thank Giuliani for.

The 'Juicy Smollett Initiative' will allow anybody who feels victimized to make up any fantasy scenario they can hallucinate as if it is fact, be included in the hate crimes statistics, and be legally honored because VICTIMS.

It went downhill when they started pandering to crazy people.

Society ran by crazies can’t function. It was a very dumb mistake by Democrats. They did it to get power, but at expense of fucking it all up.

It went from crazy to crazy plus crazy to crazy squared. It will be crazy cubed pretty soon, because the strategy of progressive subversion demands it, and ever more dizzying heights of 'crazy' will be touted as the 'new so-called norm'. The more subversive, disruptive, absurd, unnatural, and illogical, the better.

You don't think this is all by design? It certainly is not a random permutation.

San Francisco police lieutenant: Liberal prosecutors responsible for chaos, disorder on city streets

"They make the decision whether [criminal cases] will get charged or not and most of the time, it’s like 'Nope, not charged. Nope, not charged,'"

Just walking around in public in Santa Cruz is getting creepy. in addition to the constant crowds and shuffling density, loaded with scrofulous homeless, cripped, crazed, third world, ghetto whomper characters etc., you feel like eyes are on you studying for some form of major or minor mugging. The dirtbags are pooling. If you return any looks or stares to avoid prey mode, you can get the beat down hate whammy. Flee from sealed off safe space to sealed off safe space hoping you don't get trashed in between? Public spaces are predator/prey savannas and watering holes a lot more than they were in the past. My car got rifled in my driveway recently at dusk (probably a neighbor's drug addicted son), but it is just the start of 'San Francisco-i-zation' where the broken car windows are next on the LibbyFuck menu.

This creepy crawler set-upon feeling started big time the first time I passed through the main terminals at LA airport years ago, and the place was open season for every ghetto panhandler who wanted to wander around plucking money from the travelers and nobody stopped them or did anything about it.

Thank you, Liberals.
24   RC2006   2020 Jan 7, 11:40am

By the time its so bad that people start waking up to how bad liberals have trashed CA it will be to late. As long as they can live in their gated communities and don’t have to have their children go to their constituents schools or hospitals and stay segregated liberal elites will drive us towards destruction.
25   WookieMan   2020 Jan 7, 11:40am

I’m at DEN right now. Homeless sleeping on the floor in the baggage claim area. Not many, but I was like WTF? There shouldn’t be one.

IL sucks, but I do have to say they manage the homeless thing relatively well. Winter helps too.
27   FortWayneAsNancyPelosiHaircut   2020 Jan 7, 4:20pm

I feel aweful for our state. Crazies took over in government, and droomat politicians who just kiss everyones ass for under the table bribes. :(

30   Dholliday126   2020 Jan 13, 8:49am

The only thing holding SF together is that all the black people are in Oakland. Once white flight sets in, and they are replaced by non-whites, the city will go the way of Baltimore.

Boudin was born in New York City.[1] His parents, Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, were Weather Underground members.[2]

When Boudin was 14 months old, his parents were arrested for murder in their role as getaway car drivers in the Brink's robbery of 1981 in Rockland County, New York.[1][3] His mother was sentenced to 20 years to life[4] and his father to 75 years to life for the felony murders of two police officers and a security guard.[5] After his parents were incarcerated, Boudin was raised in Chicago by adoptive parents Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who, like his parents, had been members of the left-wing domestic terrorist group Weather Underground.[6] Boudin did not learn to read until age 9, a phenomenon common to children of incarcerated parents.[7] Kathy Boudin was released under parole supervision in 2003.[3][8]

Boudin descends from a long left-wing lineage. His great-great-uncle, Louis B. Boudin,[9] was a Marxist theoretician and author of a two-volume history of the Supreme Court's influence on American government, and his grandfather Leonard Boudin was an attorney who represented controversial clients such as Fidel Castro and Paul Robeson.[10] Boudin is also related to Michael Boudin,[9] a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and Isidor Feinstein Stone, an independent journalist.[9][11]
....
Before law school, Boudin traveled to Venezuela and served as a translator in the administration of then-president Hugo Chávez.[13] After law school, from 2011 to 2012, Boudin served as a law clerk to M. Margaret McKeown on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.[14]
