https://www.foxnews.com/politics/illegal-immigrants-to-be-able-to-get-drivers-licenses-in-ny-after-legal-challenge-fails

Illegal immigrants in New York will able to obtain driver’s licenses starting next week after a last-minute legal challenge was dismissed -- making it the 13th state to allow the practice, but one that critics say is unconstitutional.

The Green Light Law, signed by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo earlier this year, allows anyone to apply for a driver’s license regardless of immigration status and does not require a Social Security number.

Illegal immigrants can use a combination of documents that include a valid passport from a foreign country and a valid foreign driver’s license, as long as it has been expired for less than two years.

Our owners demand lower wages for poor US citizens, those uppity ingrates. If the poor won't work for less than the poverty level, well, there are another 123 million Mexicans yet to import who certainly will! Are you ready to welcome them?

At least the article gives a few names of people to surround with pitchforks and torches:

- Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo
- New York Immigration Coalition Executive Director Steve Choi
- State Sen. Luis Sepúlveda (D-Bronx)

They should all go to jail for treason at the very least.

In law, treason is criminal disloyalty, typically to the state. It is a crime that covers some of the more extreme acts against one's nation or sovereign. This usually includes things such as participating in a war against one's native country

Participating in war against one's native country sounds like a perfect description of their actions.

I would argue that if there is a "conspiracy," it's nothing like a conscious one you describe, with the elites wanting the middle class to have cheap day care or lawn care. Or wanting construction costs to be lower - although apparently construction can't be done even no at low enough prices.

IT's more of an almost subconscious tolerance due to an awareness that our sense of economic prosperity is based on ECONOMIC GROWTH. More workers and more consumers are understood to be a benefit to our economy.

Curious Patrick. I know why Trump likes the idea of inflation, but why do you like it ? Are you in line to inherit a Bay Area prime piece of real estate ? Just curious, becasue most people understand that the next big wave of inflation is going to be terrible for the middle class. You must have an hedge of some sort ?

There's plenty of countries with a surplus of labor. They're uniformly poor, like Uganda and Bangladesh.

Patricks argument seems to be that the oligarchs are preventing too tight of a market (bottom tier jobs) that would somehow be awesome for the middle class. Not avoiding a glut.
4   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 Dec 14, 2:56pm

Democrats: The Corporations are trying to short your wages, poison the Earth, jack up rents, and avoid taxes!

Also Democrats: Except when they push for massive immigration. Then, they're just being good Citizens with no ulterior motive.

I remind you that democrats have been on board for fighting illegal immigration all along. The southern border security was beefed up big time under Obama. AS was deportation of criminal illegals.

Thw democrats are just a little more pragmatic and I gueess compassionate about illegals already here. It's not possible to round them all up and send them back.

So republicans make what's really a non issue (that is border security was already as much of a priority as it is now), and talk straw men day and night like you, why ?

Well for one they can add racists to their coalition. But more importantly it gives them a bogeyman to blame the economic plight of too many working class Americans on. It's so much easier to lie and talk nonsensical bullshit than it is to understand what the problem really is.

Not exactly. My argument is that business owners want to lower wages to temporarily increase their own profits. Wages are the biggest cost of running any business.

It's not just oligarchs, though of course they also want to drive down wages. It's all employers. And employers control the US government via the largest lobbyist by far - the US Chamber of Commerce.

It would indeed be awesome for the middle class to eliminate all illegal immigration. It would be awesome for all of us, because when poor Americans get paid more, they do not send the money to Mexico. They spend it here, benefitting the whole economy.

But that is long-term thinking. Businesses generally don't give a shit about the long term, the country, you, me, or anything else. They want MORE MONEY NOW and are quite willing to aid and abet lawbreaking illegals to drive down wages to get that money.

But when you drive down wages for the poor, you drive down the whole economy. Illegals drive down wages for the poor and in so doing cause the economy to stagnate.

Immigration is an issue, but it's not one that the left and right are actually all that split on. Republicans just want to paint that picture, that the left dissagrees, I wonder why ? Elections perhaps.

We should be worrying about the technology battle to robotize manufacturing better than Asia does.

Just curious, what kind of corporate tax policies incentive investment in modernization, new technologies, factories etc ?

I'll remind you that only profits are taxed, not expenses. If we are going to bring manufacturing back to the US it's going to be becasue we automate better than they do, at this next robot stage, although some things will never be done by robots.

I disagree. I have heard absolutely nothing from Democrats but "sanctuary" bullshit to benefit employers.

Has any elected Democrat recently called for strong enforcement of immigration law?

Yes, the Republicans are the party of business, and they are not going to stop illegal immigration either. Not most of them, anyway.

Trump at least has the guts to talk about illegal immigration and piss off the US Chamber of Commerce.

The Republican Party is the lesser of two evils at this point. But that's easy, given how evil the Democratic Party has become.

What we really need is a Labor Party which sticks to labor issues and doesn't get co-opted by donations from billionaires to talk about tranny bathrooms instead.

This sucks; I lived in a quiet borough of NYC until early 1970's; I saw immigrants here and there from all over the world except Mexicans and central Americans.

Today NYC is almost half foreigners and they have no problem giving jobs to foreigners if they make more profit from them; they don't give a fuck about the American worker and never have.

Supply and demand applies to wages; wages would rise if there were fewer workers.

An increase of labor supply doesn't grown an economy; innovation and increased production do.

NYTimes was saved by Carlos Slim a billionaire Mexican; he influences their editorial anti-Trump, open border policy.
The Wall St. Journal is run by an Australian; the editor is also an Australian. Foreigners don't generally give a shit about the American worker as a rule. WSJ also has an editorial bias against Trump and pro open borders.

What most people don't know is the very roots of our democracy and constitution were the result of the shortage of workers in England after a plague killed so many of them off; with a shortage of labor, the people could demand better treatment. Eventually the Magna Carta was written.

Want to see how a vast labor supply affects wages?: visit Bangladesh.

I now am avoiding restaurants and businesses whenever possible who hire illegal labor; this of course is difficult in California.

Unlike Marcus, HeyYou and others here, I have lived and worked in Mexico; I have also been going there for decades; they don't like us, they don't share our values and they don't give a fuck about our laws and never will.

Yes, the Republicans are the party of business, and they are not going to stop illegal immigration either.

Correct. Only after Trump came along did we get a leader truly interested in enforcing immigration laws. Hopefully the next step is expansion on efforts such as the raid at that chicken plant, where the illegals were removed and replaced by American citizens. Penalties on employers of illegals should be next.

In California, they can do Uber or Lyft in between driving to burglaries, porch pirating and mailbox heists. Progress is sweet.

It also makes 'pharmacies on wheels' so much more effective for the cartels.
21   AD   2020 Feb 9, 5:47pm

Patrick, that is what California did and now California admits it does not know if illegal immigrants with California drivers license were able to vote in past elections.

Because of Bill Clinton's Motor Voter Law, anyone with a drivers license can automatically get registered to vote by just "attesting they are citizens". Then they get their voter identification card from the state that issued their drivers license.

There is no check or verification process to make sure that illegal immigrants with drivers licenses are not stopped from voting. So not only do illegal immigrants count toward the California census which allows for California to have 55 congressional representatives, but also they can vote with their California voter identification.

What is interesting is that Professors Cloward and Piven of the "Cloward Piven Strategy" were major proponents of the Motor Voter Act.

There is a photo of them two standing behind Bill Clinton signing the Motor Voter Act into law.
22   clambo   2020 Feb 9, 5:53pm

AD is correct. It’s easy for illegals to vote in California.
I had to renew my California drivers license months ago.
At the terminal, I saw it is automatic voter registration.
The only thing that you need to be registered is to answer affirmative to a question.
The questions are in Spanish if you are illiterate in English.
Now that I am registered, I get absentee ballots in the mail without requesting them.
We should never allow illegals to have drivers licenses.
Enforcement of E-Verify is the answer.

Yes, it makes the "cost of business" in California go up such as insurance claims for a stolen package that the post office leaves on the porch.

I live in a gated townhome community and we have a mailbox center where each townhome unit has its own mailbox at the center. Any packages are placed in the large package box and the key to the box is left in the mailbox.

Now UPS and Fedex will leave a note to pick up the box at their office if the homeowner is not home. I see now there is hardware to allow a garage to be open with a cell phone using bluetooth and a combination code number. The same app can be used by the UPS and Fedex delivery person to leave a package in the garage.

Or another is to have a security box at the front of the house to let UPS and Fedex place a box in it.
24   HeadSet   2020 Feb 9, 6:40pm

Why haven't Dimwit & RepCon scum deported these? They like cheap labor.

Because Dimwit and RepCon did not want to. Trump is trying, but is meeting fierce resistance from said Dimwit and RepCon.
25   AD   2020 Feb 9, 6:46pm

I've seen bumper stickers stating "Don't reward them. Deport them !"

The delivery entities in our area now take pictures of the boxes on the porches to show they made the deliveries.

So lovely to enter the era of 'Red Queen' offense and defense strategies against the criminals and parasites, really makes life so breezy, simple and stress free.

Yes, I hate to say that this is the case that you have to continuously stay ahead or at least with the criminals.

That is why I like gated communities with mail centers that have secure places for your mail and packages.

Another option is to spend about $10 a month for a mail box at a mail center like UPS Store and have your packages mailed there. That $10 a month is "cost of business" in parasite - filled Mexifornia.

You have to make it more inconvenient for the criminals just like a home security system helps (i.e., Adobe, Simplisafe, ADT, etc.) along with internet cameras.

Please not too many comments about how much we do not realize we live in a 3rd world, especially when you examine math test score trends in California, etc. :-/

Replace yourselves with illegals
Murder your babies
Disarm yourselves
