Basically, it is well-worth getting off fossil fuels, and 97% of scientist figure is bullshit. An excellent read for both proponents and opponents of AGW...

The only way to get 97 percent of scientists to agree on anything is if they are beaten bloody and in chains. It's not their job to achieve consensus. Their job is to examine and debate and come up with better falsifiable models.

That kind of 'consensus' signals a priori that you are reading absolute bullshit or rampant political intimidation. You don't even need to examine the so-called 'issue'. Couple that with a chicken little topic that scientists have gotten routinely completely wrong for generations and???

However, if you have managed to turn something into religion, then that is something else entirely. You are dealing with demented fanaticism.
