Phase Three of Islamification:

Since it's impossible to prevent occasional mistakes like the wrong sandwich (if this isn't a lawsuit scam), and Muslims are 7%+ of the population, we should only have halal food from now on in schools and restaurants.

He should immediately move to a country where this kind of mishap would be impossible. Nice Muslim country.

Never understood the food restrictions with ANY religion. It's not 1200 AC. No one could have predicted what the world would turn into in basically 200-300 years from today. Just fucking eat. The made up words on the paper in your drawer won't know, I promise.

Still healthier than what Major General Hossein Salami just ate.

I don’t know the specifics of the Muslim halal code but I know it is extremely similar to Jewish kosher foods. This was based on a few chapters in Leviticus which outlines which animals to eat and a few other things like “don’t eat a baby animal cooked in its mother’s milk.” That one doesn’t make scientific sense. By the way that’s why cheeseburgers aren’t kosher. But most of the instructions were like food safety for the Bronze Age. Don’t eat pigs. Why? Cuz they are too similar to humans and harbor diseases which can infect us. Modern science now understands the dangers of porcine consumption, and measures may be taken to avoid risk of food born illness or parasite infection.
Same with shrimp, doesn’t fall into the “fish with scales” category. There are so many aquatic animals which are prone to poison you if care is not taken in full knowledge of the animal.

Basically the whole thing is a children’s primer for proper behavior which doesn’t hurt yourself or others and how to eat. This includes hand washing, but of course the rabbis managed to confuse the issue and turn it into ceremony instead of mindful sanitation. The law was given by someone with a very comprehensive knowledge of the world, someone who understood things at a scientific level. Perhaps someone who understands it that well because He creates it?
If it wasn’t God or a similar supreme being, it has to be the smartest and most knowledgeable person who ever lived at least a thousand years!
Because the stuff in this book just makes good sense, such good sense that it couldn’t be fully understood until modern day advances in scientific understanding made it possible to “see the mind of God.”
Look into it sometime. The moral codes are the best examples. Sure they might seem restrictive, but the more we learn about human behavior and the way we are wired internally, the more they make absolute sense as rules for life.

The Jews got it wrong. God was giving them a prescription for general health and well functioning society which would give His chosen people a serious edge over rival peoples. Think of it as a Sumerian “may” code. It’s like programming a computer made up of millions of people. The general rules matter a ton.

Bah...

It's not like there wasn't 300K years of history before that particular book. The reasons you mention are quite accurate though.

Religious dietary restrictions are a display of group loyalty as well as of sanctity/purity. These are 2 of the 5 moral foundations that Jonathan haidt describes that every human comes preprogrammed with. Remove the religious customs and people will act out these mor foundations in newfound traditions, such as vegan/soy/non-GMO/buzzword foods that the extreme liberals love to fixate over (an actual example from jonathan haidt). Following your groups moral foundation customs allow the individual to gain respect and status in their community.

I guess you could say, outrage against pork is a Muslim virtue signal.

Halal meat should be prepared only by a muslim. If they force it there will be more jobs for muslims.

Inherited Cultural Memes (established to improve health and safety of religious population), meet Inherited Cultural Memes that are pointless except for establishing, ritualizing and maintaining avenues of authoritarian domination and hierarchy. Sometimes they have baby memes that do both.

Kosher means you also can't have a chicken sandwich with cheese is because "Thou shalt not seeth a calf in it's mothers milk", generally meaning you can't mix meat and diary lest that happens.

Even though hens don't have nipples or nurse chicks with milk at all, being reptiles.

That one really annoys me.

Interesting!

One overlooked dietary rule is the European hatred of eating Horseflesh, that sometimes gets forgotten in famine, but is generally followed and in many times and places was prohibited by law.

It goes way back to Pagan times and the worship of Epona and other Gods for whom the horse was sacred. Dogs are probably included as an informal eating prohibition as well.

Also, washing hands before dinner per Hebrew Rules was called "Judaic Superstition" in the Medieval/Renaissance Era, they believed filthiness was next to Godliness and saw bathing as a vanity to be avoided for as long as possible. After all, the Early Saints and Prophets are always covered in a sackcloth and ashes and so forth.

Really? So god somehow told only the jews to wash their hands? While other cultures held filth up as a virtue?

I'm starting to see the logic behind the 'chosen people' moniker.

Christian Baby McMuffins will solve this problem. "Make mine with head, it's my favorite part!"

Right they should also greet all customers with cute pigs on a leash. Problem solved.

Europeans didn't wash regularly between the Dark Ages and the 19th Century.

The Vikings were considered wierdoes to Continental Europeans because they bathed, even in the Winter, several times a week.

Westminster Abbey Monks were only required to bathe 4 times a year. King John appears to have bathed once every 3 weeks, and he was considered vain. Queen Isabella of Spain is said to have only been washed twice (proof of her holiness) - once when born, and once when she entered the Gates of Saint Peter.

Greeks, Romans, Celts and Germans DID bathe, until the Dark Ages, then they stopped, because the OT Prophets and Stylite Saints like Saint Anthony didn't bathe.

Italians went from public maintained bathhouses to bathing maybe once a month. It was considered a "Vanity".

Chinese, Japanese, even Indians and Arabs all spoke about how filthy Europeans were.

Remember Thomas Beckett? Hair shirt he never removed.

Nope. Speaking purely of Europeans. Japanese, Koreans, Thais, Persians, Arabs, etc. all bathed regular. As did the Vikings and most Europeans before the Dark Ages. Maybe Russians also, I don't know.

" McDonald's is a big name, it's a huge retailer. They shouldn't make mistakes like this."

McDonald didn’t make the mistake. The employee did. It’s human error, but he’s looking for financial compensation, not just an apology.
