Record Low viewership. Keep in mind the Country has 20-30% more people than the 1990s. 3M lower than the previous low in 2018. Only in 2019 did the Oscars tick upwards in the past 6 years; that is now irrelevant with the new all-time 2020 low. America loathes the elites

Joaquin Phoenix launched a passionate speech about animal rights, veganism and Speciesism while accepting his Best Actor award for Joker
Brad Pitt slammed Donald Trump's impeachment trial in his Oscars speech
He joked that his 45 seconds of speech time was more than the Senate gave former National Security Adviser John Bolton
Hair Love creator Matthew Cherry advocated for the Crown Act, a California law that prohibits discrimination based on hair style or texture, in his speech
American Factory co-director Julia Reichert - who is fighting terminal cancer - quoted from The Communist Manifesto
Janelle Monae opened the show by declaring herself a 'proud', 'black queer artist telling stories'
Sigourney Weaver declared: 'All women are superheroes' when she presented an award
Jane Fonda recycled an old gown and carried a coat with her on stage which she declared is the last piece of clothing she will ever buy as part of an ongoing campaign to reduce waste
Viewers were sickened by the 'self-righteous', 'woke' speeches from 'millionaire hypocrites'

Leave my 20 million dollar mansion in my 60K couture, driving in my 250K car, to receive a free 100K (yes, that figure is correct) swag bag, so I can step in front of a microphone as a rent boy/gal and rant about politics, social justice and global warming.

Guess why i haven't watched this shit in years, and it just keep getting worse.

Ricky Gervais had it correct when he was accused of being right wing in his Golden Globe speech :

Gervais responded by tweeting: "How the f*** can teasing huge corporations, and the richest, most privileged people in the world be considered right wing?"

In a world where catering to emotions and not facts became the norm, words truly have no meanings.

Has Joaquin Phoenix, 'We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow and when she gives birth we steal her baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable.'' ever even been on a farm?

You're not wrong with this topic, but why even give it time? I feel like we're too bored/advanced as a society where something like this important... This would never happen 100 years ago. That's how quickly we've evolved.

Just ignore it as it seems like most of America did. Go for a hike. Surf. SUP it up. Kayak. Go fuck the wife/girlfriend in the woods. There are literally thousands of things I'd rather do than watch and/or read anything on the fucking Oscars.

Just noting that things that used to be guaranteed draws and big annual events are now unimportant. We're entering an entirely new age of homebaked/small producer Media and politics aside, this is more evidence that the trend continues.

I now get my news fix from a Classical School Principal (Dr. Turley), a former Satanic Vermont Farmer (Styx), a Gymrat from California (HA Goodman), a Vegetarian NYC Lawyer (Lionel), and a former Ulster MEP (Vance).

Spot on. I like boats, planes, vacation and food content wise(and other things of course). I'm not an intellectual and someone can quote that in a later post... fag. But 98% of the content these people (the ones I watch) have NOTHING to do with politics. I just dumped a youtube channel the other day because they fucking sailed Greta across the Atlantic. They had a hot looking chick, blue water, nice boat, etc. Good thing going. They fucked it up.

I don't want politics in my content. Enter fucking tain me.

https://notthebee.com/article/oscars-ratings-absolutely-tanked

Last week, an Oscars producer who spoke on the condition of anonymity told the New York Times data found that "minute-by-minute post-show ratings analysis indicated that ‘vast swaths' of people turned off their televisions when celebrities started to opine on politics."

Is there anything more degrading than being lectured by a bunch of privileged balloonheads who have the self-awareness of toe lint and think there's nothing more important on earth then themselves and their own opinions?

Keep it up, Woke Oscars, and see if you can chop your ratings in half again next year!
9   Ceffer   2021 Apr 27, 1:15pm

10   WookieMan   2021 Apr 27, 1:22pm

I've never even watched the Oscars outside of news clips. Have a home theater, but not a big movie guy. Comedy is generally my favorite. Make me laugh and I'll watch. Or have hot chicks in it.
11   Ceffer   2021 Apr 27, 1:27pm

Comedy? Wasn't that something they had in the olden days, before Trump?
12   Patrick   2021 Apr 27, 1:36pm

https://spectator.us/topic/covid-19-killed-hollywood/

We are all bored to tears now by morality lectures from the rich and the famous. I had jumped the gun, somewhat. In the 2010s the Oscars were in decline, but the 2020 ceremony still drew in a TV audience of 23.6 million. This year, that number collapsed to 9.8 million.

Still some decent stuff that comes out. Though you're correct in that it's all been neutered in fear of cancel culture. Hence why I'm not a movie guy.

I'm okay with some shows, but movies have turned into petrified turds.
14   Ceffer   2021 Apr 27, 3:41pm

The only thing I have seen on the few network shows I can tolerate are gay type individuals and/or bimbos dressing up in costumes and acting idiotically stupid, not funny, not clever, and certainly NOT topical, with a laugh track. The fudge packing of minorities into over-represented but non-representative roles seems to be going completely over the top.
T shirts and costume parties on 20 million dollar lifestyle sets, the usual prop that money SHOULD grow on trees for everyone, really creepy, dwarfish, emasculated males often with the gorgeous Hollywood bimbo social climber types. I guess people watch this stuff, so maybe Bill Gates is right after all.

There's a ton of these trees around where I live, and that's their exact odor.

And yes, it was before Trump, but this time shall pass.
16   RWSGFY   2021 Apr 27, 3:56pm

Did they give anything to that Chinese chick director who had a falling out with CCP over some "human rights" issues?
17   Ceffer   2021 Apr 27, 11:51pm

I checked my gag reflex and watched some MSM news to see how long I could stand it. Is just my imagination, or do a lot MSM talking heads have 'blinking disease'. Blinking is a common tic associated with people who know they are lying. Don't they take lessons to disguise their body language?

Ahhh SV Delos? Yeah I quit them last year as well. They are making bank, but sold the fuck out.

MJ Sailing, Project Atticus, Bums on a Boat are pretty good. Adventures of Tarka was great, but he sold his boat.

Can't have kids on a boat either if you want me to watch. I don't care about your kid(s). It's my escape away from mine when I get the chance. I still like SV Delos, but she seems overwhelmed, hell they both do. Content since his brother jumped ship, lol, has gotten noticeably worse. I also don't care for sailing the US East coast places either. I want to see places that are hard to get to.

Gayest name on the planet, but Sailing Doodles has plenty of T&A. Bobby is a bit of a cunt, but probably because I'm jealous. Not sure how the guy does it.

Ten years ago I would have know maybe a woman or two that wanted to watch it. I didn't see any advertising for it and outside if here and a couple of clown videos on it nothing. Hollywood needs to go its all commie propaganda with people that are more out of touch with reality than anyone else on planet.

I think Delos did an arctic trip a while back and produced a documentary that was cool. Haven't seen it yet though.

I haven't seen that yet either. Delos was cool when it was basically a party. Not so much now with a kid and they're staying near the mainland US. There was an episode where they literally complained about sailing with a kid. Then don't do it? Or you can just make money and stop whining about it living what would be a dream for some people being on the water constantly.

Also, I know there are great places on the East coast, but it's just not as adventurous the last 12 months or so. Covid is probably part of that. At least get down to the Caribbean as I think almost all of that is open. And yes, episodes are delayed, I just figured they'd be down there already. It has all been northeast sailing and too much "nugget" action.

Oscar statue is an Egyptian Demon God? The chronic pharaonic shit arises again. 'Oscar' 'Sokar'. They love their symbology.
"But not only do they claim that the design of the figure is a “pagan symbol”, but they also claim that the origin story the Academy presents is phony, and that 'Oscar' is actually a variation of 'Sokar'. They take it a step further and claim that the film reel Oscar stands on is a variation of a “sun disk” that Egyptian God figures would stand on." I suppose it could be a hybrid of the Egyptian god and a Knight's Templar beguiled by the demon religions.

I think there's a fundamental shift in society. I don't think people want to be entertained so much anymore as they do want to be educated.

For example:

original link

I can watch that and have it completely command my attention but I can't sit through a modern film, and watching corporate news is actually repulsive to me. I can barely stand to watch anything modern as entertainment.

I don't think I'm unique in this way. I used to FORCE myself to read and watch corporate news 25 years ago, but even then I think I knew I was watching bullshit, which is why it wasn't very interesting to me.

Lol. I'd bet 30% of the crew checks this box. Who cares about the actors? If I wrote a movie about my town, it would be impossible to come remotely close to this. Hell Chicago is a 30/30/30 city of white/black/hispanic then some other races. Where the hell did they come up with 30% if this is real?

I'm not a big movie guy but it's entertainment. Entertain me and I'll watch stuff. If you have an all white cast and it looks like a stupid movie I'm not watching it. Think the cheesy bad American Pie franchise of movie. Then Friday with Ice Cube as a cheesy fun movie with mostly blacks. I didn't think anything of it. Like "what am a doing watching a 'black' movie?" It was entertaining enough.

Jumping to other activities. The NBA. Should we make the All Star team be 30% white because they're under represented? This slope is slippery especially when talking movies.

There are so many rabbit holes you can go down with this crap and all it does it make it LESS entertaining by forcing a square peg in a round hold.

Unless you become a white suprematis? So sick of these labels. Is MLB racist towards blacks in baseball? Is the NBA racists towards whites in basketball? Popeye's versus Chipotle? We can make anything racist if we want. How about just living our damn lives and not caring.

I don't know a single person that is overtly racist. Maybe an off cuff joke or remark randomly, but I've yet to meet a legit KKK member or someone that wants to cause harm to another race. As a middle aged white guy there's PLENTY for me to bitch about. I just live my life.
