I was watching Big, the Tom Hanks movie the other day. There's a scene where he gets an apartment in NYC. Immediately, he's awoken by gunfire. There were plenty of other 80s movies that depicted NYC the same way.
I vividly remember as a child walking through NYC with my parents how bad it was. Also, you can look at the murder stats. It was a very bad place.

Actually, black and Hispanic mothers, aunties and grandmothers who are stuck raising families in shitty neighborhoods with no fathers around approved the tough on crime policies.
It is mostly gentry white Liberals who live in safer neighborhoods who are against it.

Another thing Bloomberg was destroyed on. Biden reminded him that it was Obama looking out for his "Sons" and sending "Moderators" out to NYC that ended Stop & Frisk.
I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for gang banger hoodlums and you curse the thin blue line. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that these hoodlums’ deaths, while tragic, probably saved lives.
