Family is the only thing most of us are living for. Take that away, and the sheer emptiness of day to day life would be crippling. I can’t imagine working every day just for my own needs or the needs of some all powerful state. Even pride wouldn’t propel me far enough. It would be a tremendously lonely existence and probably wouldn’t last very long as people would opt out in one way or another.
Also, what’s a woman’s incentive to bring a baby to term if she can’t raise it as her own? Plenty of women right now, perhaps a plurality, would rather abort their baby than give it up for adoption.
