Think about it: we gave them trade preferences on the same level as we have with responsible open democracies. I get it, the idea was to give them the benefit of the doubt and that once they are prosperous they will clean up their act. But this obviously didn't work and is not going to work. Not with China, not with Russia. Germany and Japan become normal after military defeat, occupation and years of rule by occupation administration.
Being this closely tied with such assholes is clearly dangerous.
So it's time to roll back all the undeserved preferences given to these two asshole regimes until they clean up their act (after collapse if necessary).

The European Union's External Action Service, which researches and combats disinformation online, said in an internal report that since January 22 it had recorded nearly 80 cases of disinformation about the Covid-19 outbreak linked to pro-Kremlin media.
"The overarching aim of Kremlin disinformation is to aggravate the public health crisis in Western countries, specifically by undermining public trust in national healthcare systems — thus preventing an effective response to the outbreak," according to the report.
The report, dated March 16th, said that the campaign is "designed to exacerbate confusion, panic, and fear." The report outlines how pro-Kremlin media have been working to amplify an array of often contradictory narratives which "hijack" the information space in order to diminish Europe's ability to act in its self-interest.

I worked out pretty quickly that this tactic would trigger in the region of 400,000 deaths. A few days later it transpired that the Imperial College COVID-19 response team had done some work for the government and estimated that about 260,000 people would die if this disease was allowed to spread.
