The exact origins of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, remain unknown. We know only that it began in the Wuhan province in China, but the Chinese Communist party has gone to great lengths to obfuscate the full picture of its initial spread.
Journalists should be clamoring for this information.
But, for a large section of the American media, who have engaged in China apologia over the course of the past few months, challenging China or by proxy the World Health Organization is completely off limits. ...
It’s not a good look for media outlets to again fall in line with the narrative coming out of China, a country whose officials have also accused the US Army of engineering the virus and releasing it into Wuhan. Twitter refused to ban those officials, and there was no mass snark tweeting or fact checking done by the same journalists who called Cotton a crackpot.
Maybe that’s because it’s easier for members of the American media to attack a senator from a party that most of them ideologically oppose on a personal level. Or maybe it is something much more nefarious — that the media companies who sign the paychecks are much more invested in China and therefore willing to cede editorial standards in their coverage to the CCP. Maybe that’s also worth looking into.

Yes, Amazon (Washington Post) gets lots of its product from China, and many firms that advertise in media have no interest in shutting down the cheap labor pipeline. They must counter the calls to dis-invest in China and bring back production to the US, calls that seem more likely if people blame the CCP for the virus being spread. It is "racist" now to mention "Wuhan" Virus, and will be "racist" when people call for lessening critical dependence on China.
Rules to live by for right wingers relative to their beliefs:
1) Be hyper aware of what you want to believe. YOU KNOW ITS TRUE !!
2) Grab on to the first rumor, hypothesis, or fake news, or sometimes even facts, that support what you want to believe.
3) Be flexible. If #2 is proven wrong, no problem. Right wingers know that everyone lies, and that truth and facts are WAY over rated, so you can easily find other rumors, hypotheses, fake news, or even once in a blue moon, facts to connect with your beliefs.
Why are liberals so bad at this kind of critical thinking ?

They sure are! Their big one today is that Trump owns a pharma stock via a mutual fund that manufacturers the evil Trump Placebo Sugarpill, Hydrochloroquine.
But Biden's son getting a billion from China and paid millions to be on the board of a Ukraine Gas Company? Fiddlesticks!
