The Dems hoped Trump would demand a reopening, so they could blame him for every single case and death following the reopen, while Dems in Cali, New York, New Jersey, etc. while enjoying the relief of reopening.

The thing is, Trump does have the power to order the states to reopen. He’s declared a national emergency, he could declare martial law which suspends the Constitution, and as commander in Chief he could make those decisions no problem!
But this way is better for him. I don’t like being under a LibbyFuck Governor though. I suppose civil disobedience is always an option. Misdemeanors ain’t shit in California these days. Not even worth a cop’s time to prosecute.

The fact is Trump asserted a power he didn't have but believed he had, he then realized (was told) he didn't have authority to "reopen the country" and tried to make the best of an incredibly ignorant statement. As to reopening of the country he posited "well, I have the ultimate authority." And then after getting that he had no such authority "decided" he would "allow" the Governor's to do it. What a clown. Doesn't know the law doesn't know the constitution. Still believe he's a stable genius? Excuse me, a very stable genius? Of course you do.
In reality governors can't, for the most part, order private business to reopen either. The assumption is business will reopen with a green light and stay home orders are lifted.

Haven't heard of it being legally applicable to a virus though. That technically means our government can shut down entire industries because of influenza at any time, right? That's likely not legal.
