basically, the senior community, if they want us to continue to support them, they are going to have to do their part and shelter in place until this is figured out. Most of them aren't willing to do that. But long term, they can't expect us to for them.

Seniors dying off earlier should make SS more solvent, no? They already paid in, and they will not be taking out.

This is another reason we need democrats in control. They are the only ones willing willing to take the heat for raising the income level that pays payroll taxes. It's been raised every so often. For example Reagan did it.

Says the man who doesn't pay FICA!
Sorry, couldn't resist. Big picture, yeah that likely would, at some point, need to happen. But your can't raise payroll taxes on non-existent workers. As my parents like to joke, work harder, you're paying for our Social Security. We need to open things up ASAP, as the whole system breaks down when the economy disappears and the velocity of money slows down. Three days til CA D-Day.

COVID19 isn't the flu.

But for under-45, COVID hospitalizes 1% & kills .014%.

All ages, flu hospitalizes 1.5% & kills 0.13%.

Restricting COVID to under-45s results in 6x flu hospitalizations & 1x flu deaths, & gets us to herd immunity.

Shelter the old, but release the young!

This and the UV thing you posted. Sunny states are simply not getting slammed. NOLA is a shit hole, so virus spread there is to be expected. But places like NYC, NJ, Chicago, etc. are cloudy and shitty this time of year. Supposed to get almost 6" of fucking snow here in IL tomorrow.

Fact is even in the summer with substantially less spread, the old and vulnerable are going to die from this. Oh well 🤷‍♀️ They are still going to die from it after a vaccine is created just like they do from flu. Being old sucks.

The Liberals have been telling their dipshit voters their SS money was going to run out any minute. While they raid it every chance they get.

Maybe? I think it's just cleanliness from my point of view and demographics. I'm not racist, but the stats are showing old, unhealthy blacks folks are getting destroyed by the bat flu. They claim it's because hospitals don't exist in their neighborhood (not true), but the fact is most are unhealthy.

Had always wanted to check NOLA out and probably wish I had when I was younger. Was the last state in the lower 48 I needed to hit, so went in November for a quick birthday weekend with my wife. Had fun, but was mostly meh. The place is a shithole even though they do try to keep it clean. Massive amounts of code violations that would shut down every restaurant in the French Quarter, but for some reason they just let it go. The buildings are pure shit. Not historical charm, literal pieces of shit that should probably be torn down.

I kinda like it there. Sure, you do not want to venture out of French and Garden Quarters too much, and there are code violations, but the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable, and different from most other cities in US of A.

Yeah, and politics in LA makes Chicago politicians look like preschoolers...

If you are 1. Old 2. Fat 3. Fat and old 4. Sick 5. Old and sick you are more likely to die.

1-5 above are a cost to social security, Medicare and Obamacare systems, so the more of them die, the more solvent those systems will be.

Actually not many are dying so it’s not going to be much help.

What IS going to bankrupt the USA is all the free money being given away by uncle Sam.

People going outdoors in good weather is one of the best ways to diminish the impact of the virus.

Of course, the authoritarian dictas have been to stay indoors. There's no agenda to the Panic Pandemic? Warning everybody NOT to do things that actually decrease the impact of the virus?

Economists propose ending lockdowns by releasing the young first
"Age- and morbidity-related restrictions would allow a rapid return of economic activity," according to David Mackie, chief European economist at JPMorgan Chase in London. "If mixing between the elderly and the less vulnerable younger populations can be sufficiently reduced, the economy and society can get back to work quickly."
His research suggests governments could ease restrictions on those under 60 and without additional risk factors, yet still limit deaths and pressure on health systems.
