The Most Damn Disco Song Ever:

I can see Brigitte Lahaie or Seka dancing to this in my mind, with really oversatured color, with a guy in bellbottoms.

@Rin If you want to do a 70s fantasy with Real Doll, this is your soundtrack.

I danced like nobody was looking. My court date is next week.

If that had some space Lesbians with purple hair in it, I'd think it was the new Disney Star Wars.

Aside from Patrick Hernandez's "Born to be Alive" track listed, the others seem to be somewhat average.

Here are some of the more stellar tracks from the age of disco ...

Thelma Houston's (not related to Whitney Houston) "Don't Leave Me This Way"

Boston's own diva, Donna Summer, "I Feel Love"

Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive"

And my dad's generation's artist's swan song, Frankie Valli (a junior AARP by the time of disco), "Grease"

And while I hate 'Saturday Night Fever', I think Yvonne Elliman's "If I Can't Have You" makes it tolerable.

Speaking of Kool & the Gang, their best track (though less played on the radio, even in compilations, and didn't sound like a lot of their other stuff), was actually around the time of Prince's 'Purple Rain'

"Misled"

Yeah, that one and its video were touching somehow.

The dancers look so naive and enthusiastic. And energetic!

A.K.A, the greatest disco song ever.

Basically, the music of the 21st century sucks, in comparison to ANY decade before it ... the 90s, the 80s, the 70s, the 60s, and even the pre-Buddy Holly 50s.

Armi ja Danny, a Finnish duet. Choreography is the best I have ever seen...
one more for your intense enjoyment, but this is a troll:

Also from The Spinners, "Working My Way Back To You"

I was not even 1 year old, during its release, and only a few years later, I could recognize good music on the classic pop re-play stations.

In contrast, can anyone say the same for the 2000s and the 2010s? ... two complete loser decades of music.

Disco was just really good pop music that you could dance to.

Fixed it for you. ;)

And here's the most overplayed song of that era. Unfortunately, it suffered the state of Phil Collin's "In the Air Tonight" or the Police's "Every Breath You Take", where constant non-stop play, for nearly a decade, took it down a notch for posterity.

Sister Sledge's "We Are Family"

Don't forget Disco's and School dances would also play this, just so the righteous dudes wouldn't feel totally lame at a disco in a polyester suit.

Steve Miller's Greatest Hits (which didn't include his swan song, "Abracadabra") was a staple of the 80s, up until the 90s, long after Miller stopped producing hits.

I have so many I like. I grew up in South Florida during the late 1970's and 1980's so I am more biased toward KC and the Sunshine Band.

Ok, here's the person who'd transitioned the disco era, into its next phase, new wave plus dance ... Debbie Harry.

A.K.A. the greatest female singer/songwriter/frontwoman of all time.

This was the last hit song of the disco era, prior to its morphing into dance/pop ...

"Heart Of Glass"

.

Earth, Wind and Fire will go down as classical music genre in about 50 years. They exemplify 1970s music.
