In the real world, businesses with incompetent negotiators at the helm go bankrupt. Newsom faces no such risk and has personal/political reasons for keeping the contract going. As we reported in March, he received a $40,000 contribution from BYD’s top executive in California. BYD is a “green energy” company, one of Newsom’s favored industry sectors. And, Newsom’s administration has close ties to BYD’s chief lobbyist, Mark Weideman, who also represents Tom Steyer’s NextGen America.

Slimy all around.

Anyone want to talk some more about bankruptcy and incompetent people at the helm ?

Sure.

Gavin is so incompetent he thinks nobody needs to own a gun because they can hire armed security.

Your turn.

If Biden can make a billion in China graft, then Newsom can make at least a few million!

And that is the bottom line; kickbacks, political favors, and corruption.
Newsom could have canceled the deal, recovered taxpayer money, and paid less to a domestic mask producer, but instead gave a Chinese producer, that never made masks before, the contract. It took several months and several extensions before the company could even pass production standards for these "urgently needed masks".

Now that the Chinese can finally deliver, masks are mandatory statewide.

Funny how this is working out, huh ?

At least (did not read article) a US company got the millions and not a Chinese company getting billions.
