https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/court/man-ends-up-in-court-for-calling-exs-irish-boyfriend-a-leprechaun/

Fiscal depute Susan Love said Myers had previously been in a relationship with the woman, but that they were no longer together and she had a new partner.

She told the court during Saturday morning the woman received an email from Myers in which “he made various threats to assault her new partner”.

The fiscal depute added that within the email the accused referred to the man as a “leprechaun”.

She said: “This was found to be offensive as the man was born in Dublin.

“Myers pled guilty to sending a message to his ex partner that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character in that it used offensive and derogatory language to refer to her new partner and threatened to assault him.

The offence carried a racial and domestic aggravation.

Why haven't they banned Lucky Charms cereal yet?

But seriously, the right to free speech is precisely about the right to offend.

To ban "offensive" speech is to eliminate free speech entirely.

Don't give them ideas!

Yeah he’s in trouble for using email.

Only say obnoxious shit over the phone is my rule. I don’t put it in writing.

Poor slob, he’s in trouble now because the female ratted him out.

I have only heard “Mick” as a derogatory for Irish.

Lesson here is that PC police will come for everyone eventually. When they run out of white males, they will go for white females (are doing that already), then Asians, etc.

I saw a video, and I think it was in the UK, where 2 cops were giving a woman a hard time, and she cursed. It wasn't clear if she cursed at them, and she said she didn't, but they said she did.

The cops promptly arrested her for "offensive speech".

Fuck. That.

I really hope we avoid going down that road here.

It’s the U.K. they have no such rights. Just an extremely out dated Magna Carta.
People always forget that England is a monarchy and not a free society of self governing people.

That is the goal. They want to control speech. As it controls the mind.

We will but it may only be in certain areas after a civil war. Euros are pathetic that I work with explaining away that the amount of freedom of speech is AOK.

True.

England needs a revolution.

This isnt a free speech issue.

You arent allowed to talk shit to the opposing side of a lawsuit. Try it. See what happens.

Yes, but the Irish have shown them. Higher per capita income than England now!

Ireland is a pleasant prosperous place now without the English around. Well, the Republic is. The north remains occupied and deliberately divided.

And American Irish are doing just fine these days too.

How did this happen? Were they paid "reparations"? No, they did it all themselves.

Sinn Fein literally means "we ourselves" in Irish.

Ireland had more people in 1841 than now, courtesy of British.

The population of Ireland in 2016 was approximately 6.6 million (4.75 million[1] in the Republic of Ireland and 1.85 million[2] in Northern Ireland). Although this is a significant growth over recent years, it is still below the record high of the early 1840s.

Between 1700 and 1840, Ireland experienced rapid population growth, rising from less than three million in 1700 to over eight million by 1841[3]. In 1851, as the Great Famine was ending, the population of Ireland had dropped to 6.5 million people. The Famine and the resulting Irish diaspora had a dramatic effect on population; by 1891, Ireland's population had slipped under five million and by 1931, it had dropped to just over four million. It stayed around this level until the 1960s, when the population began to rise again.

Oh yeah!

Okay, just a little more picking on the Irish. 'Tis all in good fun.

I love it!

There's a lot of truth in each one of those stereotypes, but with the English gone and the Irish working hard for themselves instead of for foreign colonial landlords, they have gotten quite rich.

Wow, I knew they were doing well, but was unaware that it was quite this well per person:

17   Patrick   2020 Jun 24, 1:42pm

As for the stereotypes:

- poverty: not anymore
- drinking: yes, large amounts, but only half as much per person as Russia and other Eastern European countries
- babies: far lower now, but used to be quite a lot, my dad was the last of eight
- fighting: never saw any physical fighting myself, but maybe the Irish do anger quickly
- potatoes: yes, I've seen Irish families serve three forms of potatoes at the same meal

Some stereotypes they missed:

- fanatical Catholicism: true, and continues to some degree
- blather, blarney, and malarkey: true, the Irish talk a lot, and a lot of it is bullshit just for the hell of it
- obnoxious alcoholic father, meek wife: used to be true, but not anymore
- red hair and freckles: frequent (10%) but lower than in Scotland, and the majority of Irish seem to have black hair, very white skin with freckles, and blue eyes

Sounds great. That is right up my alley. That is, as long as they have some sour cream.

Shit, they are closing in on SWITZERLAND! Didn't have any idea.

fanatical Catholicism:

Sure about that? Ireland recently legalized abortion on demand.
20   Ceffer   2020 Jun 24, 3:16pm

The British are falling down on the job and need to put an end to this embarrassing Irish prosperity.
