A literal, locked, private street maintained by the Property Owners and not at all by the locality.

He was waiting for one of them to set foot on his property to open fire.

When I was in New Orleans, anybody who had been there for any length of time carried guns in their glove compartments, and they had the stories to back up why they needed them.

I went there twice before Katrina, walk only 50+ feet out of the main areas and you start getting followed by thugs. Tons of drunks/tourists must get robbed and murdered.

On the other hand when I was there for Mardi Gras; hookers unsolicited came to our motel door. Plus for entrepreneurial spirit and customer service.
