Polls are cheer leading and revival meetings for the gullible.

A Hill/Harris poll last week found that 82% of Americans want a national mask mandate.
That was shocking to me that so many people could be so off base on such a basic issue. I mentioned this to a conservative neighbor yesterday and he added himself to the people wanting a mask mandate. He said he’d go for that if we could reopen everything.

This kind of thing has forced me to come to the conclusion that the fearporn about Covid19 has infected the grand majority of Americans. They are sincerely worried about this mild cold and willing to take excessive steps to ameliorate their fears.
I might have moved past all of that, but I’m in the minority.

This goes for schools too. Most parents in my area seem reluctant to kids going back as normal. Many want them to go back but with onerous restrictions and precautions.

Two anecdotal pieces:

1) My sister who teaches said both parents and teachers want school open, but it's the union leaders who are trying to keep it all shut down. She said the unions are completely lying about what people want due to politics.

2. My kids started school today - mask free - in person. There a huge uptick in private school enrollment with all the local options now carrying a massive waiting list. Public schools will now start having serious competition in the months/years to come.

It just shows how few people left watching news, not representing reality anymore, and how well programmed they’ve become.

I very much doubt that ~80% of parents have no concerns about being able to go to work, and are fine with kids on a much reduced schedule or learning at home entirely. The unemployment rate is 10%, not 80%.

Since the median household income is $50k, what do these parents intend to do 9-5 at work while their kids aren't in school?

The NJEA has not contacted any members on whether or not we want the schools open. They just put out messages on their own.

I always knew it was happening, but the staggering amount of spin and bullshit is out in the open now. They've divided us enough to seemingly blind what I usually would have thought of as intelligent people. Idiots in Chicago thought a child was shot when it was a 20 year old man shooting at and evading police. THIS was literally the reason for the looting last night. FB, Twitter and the like should be shut down today.
