A member of the Norwegian Parliament nominated President Trump for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who leads Norway's NATO delegation, told Fox News that Trump's role in brokering peace negotiations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates was a singular achievement.

"For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde said.

Tybring-Gjedde told the Nobel Committee in his nomination that the deal could precipitate several other peace deals between Israel and other countries in the region. He called the negotiation a "game changer" for the Middle East.

"As it is expected other Middle Eastern countries will follow in the footsteps of the UAE, this agreement could be a game changer that will turn the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity,” he wrote.

Tybring-Gjedde also cited other foreign policy decisions made by the Trump administration in his nomination, including his work in Pakistan, North Korea, and South Korea. He also noted that Trump has been working to minimize the presence of U.S. troops in Afghanistan as part of his larger effort to avoid new wars.

"Indeed, Trump has broken a 39-year-old streak of American Presidents either starting a war or bringing the United States into an international armed conflict. The last president to avoid doing so was Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter,” Tybring-Gjedde wrote.

Tybring-Gjedde, who is a member of Norwegian's libertarian Progress Party, said that he did not nominate Trump because he is a fan of the man. He added that the Israel-UAE deal was much more important to world peace than anything that President Barack Obama did prior to winning his Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.

"I’m not a big Trump supporter,” Tybring-Gjedde said. “The committee should look at the facts and judge him on the facts — not on the way he behaves sometimes. The people who have received the Peace Prize in recent years have done much less than Donald Trump. For example, Barack Obama did nothing.”

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany lauded Trump's nomination for the prize. "This president has created peace around the world, drew down endless wars. This is a president who is very much deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize," she told Fox News.

Trump was previously nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 for his peace talks with Kim Jong Un, but he did not win. The results of this nomination will not be announced until October 2021.

This is the important part imho.

You mean they are going to give this rattling token to somebody who actually earned it?

No.
Nominate does not mean designate.

Interesting analysis. I think you're right.

The Norwegian Angle is interesting, they have a massive EEZ out in the Arctic which is teeming with fish & oil. They stay out of the EU on purpose, otherwise they'd have to share.

The Euros are desperate not to let the UK take the Dogger Bank with them.

However, it also means that Norway needs NATO, since outside of the EU they won't get an EU Army protecting them.

Russia spans something like 11 timezones. They don't want more property to deal with.

Open access to the sea with a warm water port. Open meaning, no Kattegat/0resund and no Bosphorus/Dardenelles; no Kuriles and no Tsushima Straits (the site of a great Russian Naval Defeat)

Actually, they do. USSR and the old Russian Empire before it had LESS open borders to defend than present day Russia does, despite the larger territory. Russian Geopolitics 101.

yeah, and statement that they "do not want" runs contrary to their behavior: Crimea; Eastern Ukraine; Syria (where Trump killed off a few hundred Russians despite supposedly being a Russian puppet, while St. Obama let Russians run amok); Libya; Central African Republic; Mozambique.

This is probably pointless to do, but:

Russia didn't take over Crimea. Crimea is about 98% Russians because it was part of Russia for longer than the US has existed, it was ceremonially given to Ukraine under Khrushchev as a meaningless gesture of goodwill, since Ukraine was part of the USSR. What happened is that the US did a coup in Ukraine, put in a literal fascist, who started threatening to kill all the Russian population. Crimea then setup a hasty referendum to either join Russia or become independent. Russia couldn't afford to lose their only warm water port so either solution was fine to them, just as long as it wasn't part of Ukraine.

Eastern Ukraine is filled with a bunch of more Russians. They're just going to die or escape to Russia abandoning their land. They are literal fascists running that nation. I had a friend that is an expatriot that moved to Ukraine. I seriously think he's dead.

Syria is a US attempt to get an oil pipeline put in from the Golan Heights to Turkey through the remains of Syria after it's obliterated. The company doing it is Genie Energy, they signed the deal with Israel in early 2013, the chemical attacks are either false flags, or just complete hoaxes - Douma is known to be a hoax. Syria also has Russia's only military base in the Middle East. This is the "strategic directors of Genie Energy": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genie_Energy - look for "strategic" - anyhow the US is competing with Russia to put in oil pipelines to Europe. Coup in Ukraine stalled the Nordstream II, and attempted a coup in Turkey that failed but was (partially) done to prevent the Turkish Stream. Erdogan abandoned Europe and the United States after that, and swung toward Russia - understandably. This might be why the US has kind of forgotten about Syria.

Libya? Russia isn't doing anything in Libya or maybe I missed one. The US destroyed that to prevent the gold dinar from being created. Also to allow refugees to overflow Europe. You think the US has problems with Antifa and BLM?

Can't comment on Central Africa or Mozambique.

We're lied to about everything. Oh, Russia is this great monster we're told. Remember when Georgia attacked S. Ossetia back in in 2004? S. Ossetia asked Russia for help, they kicked out the Georgians, and the president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, and a graduate of Columbia University, and almost certainly a CIA asset, is now a wanted war criminal. He ended up in the government of the new Ukraine after he fled. Anyhow, S. Ossetia and Georgia are not occupied by Russia today, although Russia could take either in under a week. They could do the same with Ukraine if they wanted to make an international incident, and they don't.

I'm so tired of seeing the propaganda of my country, repeated to me, as fact.

sure, and Adolf did not take over Sudetenland - in both cases it was immaculate conception like Virgin Mary.
Borders were changed and Russian military was involved - why that happened is irrelevant.

Agreed. I also don't think Russia poses a threat no matter what one may be thinking of Putin. Still a good exercise for Europe to prepare for more Nato withdrawal and increase their own fleets.

We have to be careful not to take all advantage of peace with the USA away from Russia. If they ever got truly desperate, they could unleash a few EMP nukes in a stealth attack on the USA and seriously hurt if not destroy our country.

Other than nukes they certainly don't pose a danger to US. However, the nukes or nuclear scientists may be leaked to well-paying persons of terrorist faiths.

Russian mercenaries. If they're paid by the Russian government, they are interfering - if they aren't being paid by the Russian government, they are just freelance killers.

Crimea put it to a vote, too bad it didn't go the way the US wanted it to go.

Crimea is doing QUITE a bit better than Ukraine is.

Remember too, the US overthrew Ukraine - it was a coup. Ask any Ukrainian. The US started this mess, it's always starting these stupid messes.

Cold war was just a way to dump money into black projects and the MIC. Using a nuclear weapon is mutually assured destruction.

The USSR collapsed in December 26, 1991 - did nukes end up in every terrorist's hands? Did they attack the United States during that time? Did anybody attack Russia at that time?

All the US does is antagonize and make things worst in the last 20 years. Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Somalia. Are any of those places better off? Are WE better off for having attacked them? The US federal government keeps doing the same thing and getting the same result, because they are fucking crazy.

There's always going to be a bunch of "patriots" that support it no matter how worthless and stupid it was. I may as well accept that. Never in my life have people basically agreed "yeah, that was a really stupid thing the government did, we have to make certain they never do that again!" - even the Iraq war.

So fine, whatever, keep antagonizing Russia. May as well. We've been doing it for what, 70 years now? Let's go back to the fun of the Cold War, get a new Warsaw Pact together. It's never going to end. I'll die and there will be some blowhard on teeeeveee screaming that Russia did something to the US. So freaking sick of it. We could just agree to borders, agree on trade relationship, and then just work to allow each country develop their internal society - but nah, let's spent it on a bunch of weapons that are basically unusable because if we use them, the entire world is dead.

I'm tired of living like this. How can anybody not be sick and tired of their government at THIS point? You know they lie to you constantly but as long as we have a "dangerous foreign enemy" we won't ever bother to do anything with our precious domestic government, it could weaken it, and we'd fall to the Rooskies.

one more reason for peace prize, no act of terrorism on American soil! apart from one in 2017. btw I just observed that terrorism was more in Obama 2nd term. Only possible link is O's adminstration policy decisions.
