Sometimes the news is so astounding, it blows you away. Earth shattering, and yet it was expected. We all knew how sick Ruth Bader Ginsberg was. Last July, she was hospitalized for treatment of a possible infection. She was also treated last summer for a cancerous tumor on her pancreas, and she underwent surgery in late 2018 for lung cancer.

So it shouldn’t come as a shock to us, but it does. WHY?

RBG was an amazing woman with great strength of character. She over came obstacles through hard work and due diligence. She suffered through many difficult times in her life. In 2010, she lost her husband, Martin Ginsburg, who died of cancer.

In 1955, when the couple was still attending Harvard Law School, Marty was diagnosed with testicular cancer and told he had a five percent chance of living. Ruth helped him graduate, often typing up his class notes before starting her own work at 2 a.m., at the same time serving as the main caretaker for their 3-year-old daughter.

I personally admire RBG, but I also loath her, for she supported things I’m totally against. I’m speaking of abortions of course. Although, I’m not sure the best solution is the law. Outlawing abortion has led to the horrific back alley abortion, which we don’t want either and yet legalizing abortion in liberal run states, or through Roe V. Wade may not be the way to go either. A person considering such a thing needs to see the horror of what an abortion constitutes, before deciding to go that route. They need to see the spiritual consequences of taking the life of another living organism that will become a unique human being, before they decide. They need to speak to others who have done it and find out how it effected them emotionally. Did it scar them for life? Was it something they had to live with that gave them grief or did they think of it as nothing because if so, they are callus human beings and probably divorced from their true inner being and higher conscious state.

That aside, this is HUGE news because it could determine the outcome of the next election. The Dems will fight tooth and nail to stop Trump from succeeding, but the fact is there is nothing the Dems can do about it. The president nominates, and a Republican majority Senate will decide. True you can rule out Mitt Romney and Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Senator Susan Collins, who has also said she would oppose confirming a new justice so close to the election. But Mitch McConnell will move forward on filling a Supreme Court seat and that's all you need, Trump will appoint a woman no doubt to avoid another Kavanaugh spectacle. None the less, I predict there will be large scale demonstrations, even riots, which have not been working for for the Dems. This is going to divert resources away from the election and on to defeating the next appointee, for them. They will need a team of lawyers on this issue. It all comes down to a fight over the judiciary, of that you can be sure. You're talking about affecting the top court in the land for the next 20, 30 years, maybe more AND they will have until the president elect and new congress swears in on Jan 19, because the old congress is still in session until then. That's FOUR months! They can do it! There's enough time, but it would be best resolved by Nov 3. The next election will be swayed by what happens HERE. If the Dems lose this one, their voters will be demoralized and that will suppress the liberal vote. The Republicans have to win this battle. A win will galvanize and fortify the base to no end. A sure win for TRUMP! 2020!

Her life's work will be overshadowed by her overstaying till her death out of purely selfish political reasons. She should have retired. 20 years ago. Now she will be remembered for her last four years of doing nothing except being dead woman walking taking up space.

I enjoy your posts - well written. I have been in the same boat - outlawing something we don't want or desire isn't always a good solution and can lead to worse. However promoting and celebrating a spiritually horrible deed is equally bad if not worse. Many countries have come to some sort of compromise wrt the law, usually there is a grace period where it's allowed. And it works for them. But here in the US with the polarization it's not been working well.

My guess is the Dems know Trump will have to wait until after the funeral to announce a replacement, so they will drag out the funeral arrangements until the election. What? No, we can't bury her, she's still lying in state.
