Pretty good summary of why you WON'T see me at the ballot box...

I stopped caring about being cool long ago man. Too busy being responsible for my own life, and taking care of my family. But you pray to your government god if that makes you feel better. Get on your knees, punch that ballot card, and pray for a better life through legislation. Because law is the ultimate morality that tells us what's good and what's evil.
3   Ceffer   2020 Oct 25, 7:43pm

Even though in California, my vote has become meaningless, I am voting because i am afraid. Anybody who isn't afraid isn't paying attention.

@NuttBoxer Please, I'm asking you to vote for Trump.

Trump has done more to expose corruption in America than any other president in our lifetimes.

Biden is pure corruption. If elected, I am pretty damn confident he will start a war as well as accelerate outsourcing of what's left of US manufacturing.
5   Onvacation   2020 Oct 25, 7:51pm

I'm really undecided. I'm leaning towards voting for Trump but I'll probably vote against Biden.
6   Patrick   2020 Oct 25, 7:55pm

Lol. I'm going to do both!
7   Dholliday126   2020 Oct 25, 8:14pm

Vote Trump and take 10 of your buddies to vote for him in person. The alternative is the slow grind toward socialism, balkanization and a China dominated world.....not a pretty future.

Vote for the guy that exposes corruption, exposes the Washington cartel, exposes the media. Vote Trump.
10   WookieMan   2020 Oct 26, 7:07am

So do you not vote for local politicians then? The ones most likely to cost you the most money? Carlin was funny. He entitled to an opinion even if it's horribly wrong. But I would not take much advice from a comedian.

Voting is more important than just the federal government. Your federal representative are not fucking up your state or town. You NEED to vote plain and simple even if you decide to abstain from POTUS or Congress, and that's fine. I skipped POTUS in '16, but voted down ballot.

That said, I'd suggest just throwing a vote towards Trump unless you enjoy 50 genders and the party that panders to a 5% vocal minority of the population acting like they speak for us all. And as Patrick mentions in another thread, probably a nice dose of war.

George Carlin was a Comedian, it's most unfortunate that people reckoned him a Philosopher.

His humor worked at the time, because it was gibberish and nonsense. He was just thumbing his nose at the polite society.

This is why I prefer Don Rickles, he just put it out there, without prefacing his humor, as philosophy or what he thinks about the person he was shredding apart.

Says the guy who posted a George Carlin quote explaining why he isn’t voting.

Every vote matters. In Illian Omar’s district there are more registered republicans then people who voted in 2018. If people would just stop posting George Carlin quotes, get off their ass and vote she’d be gone.

And I’m not just talking about National elections. Trump isn’t going to impact your life nearly as much as your mayor, sheriff, state rep, etc. Who are you voting for there? Those elections are decided by a few hundred votes.

I wish I could click like on this 100 times. Down ballot elections are where the rubber meets the road for your pocket book if that's of concern to you... which it should be to all of us. IL has the highest or 2nd highest property taxes in the country. Trump didn't do that and neither did Obama. Chicago has one of the highest sales taxes in the country. Trump or Biden (edit: Obama, lol Biden won't win) didn't do that.

You gotta vote man. I get being pessimistic about the system and politicians Nutt, but you gotta vote.

Didn’t nuttboxer flee California for the lower taxes and cost of living in Arizona? If more sensible people voted against retarded Democrats and their terrible policies, California wouldn’t have turned into a shithole?

Carlin was a clown and cynicism was his shtick. Following his "advice" on anything is no different from seeking guidance from Mickey Mouse.

I hate how post mortem these celebrities somehow get this god status. They were all knowing or something. In 50 years when Kapernik dies, he'll be labeled the MLK of the 21st century for kneeling at a football game and helping create a "mostly" peaceful terrorist organization.
18   mell   2020 Oct 26, 8:26am

That may be fine when there's not much difference between the options but when a party veers off so far towards hate and anti-patriotism and cultural marxism as the leftoids have done a vote for Trump is necessary to prevent things from getting worse. Sure you'll still be in control of our own life but it will make defending yourself and your family much easier under Trump than under leftoid marxism.
19   🎂 Tenpoundbass   2020 Oct 26, 9:17am

To add to what I said above, George Carlin's humor is no longer Humor, because the idiosyncrasies of Society that he was thumbing his nose at, is no longer the norm.
So to hear him bitch about people being polite, and telling you to have a nice day. Leaves the listener to ponder... "When in the fuck does that ever happen?"

Have we stopped drone campaigns in the MIddle East?
Did Trump approve the MIC's Defense Budget?
Has the Federal Reserve been audited?
Did Trump NOT follow every recent president in appointing bankers to his cabinet?
Has Snowden been pardoned?
Has Assange?
Wasn't Bradly Manning re-jailed during Trump's first term?
Has the NSA spying stopped?

I haven't voted in over 10 years. When I want something changed or fixed, I take action myself. When there was a problem with the corona-schedule at my daughters school, I contacted other parents, and we made sure they didn't just accommodate the fearful.

It's not advise, he's echoing my existing sentiments.

Going to be blunt, that's stupid. You should vote. In IL I could gather every single parent in my district to protest to open up for full day school. Our district has ZERO choice because people elected a fat fuck governor that wants to squash the economy. Voting matters regardless how pessimistic you are of the people in charge.

Because I have to take my cues on how to live my life from local officials? Again, you're back to law as the ultimate authority, and government as your god.

Jury nullification exists for a reason, the same reason secession exists.

For all of you who think voting is so important, you all wear your masks right? Stay 6 feet apart? Stay home when mandated? Will line up for any and all government approved corona-vaccines? After all, the same system you vote in brought you all of that nonsense.

Right, the state system is pure the Virgin Mary, not a scrap of corruption to be found. And it's always side A who's at fault, unless it's Side B, but they're definitely not the same record, spinning the same bullshit year after year, and getting you to fall for it.

Just believe in the system man, your salvation is coming!!!

Maybe you should consider moving to a smaller town where you have more say in your kids futures. That's what I did, and we forced the school to re-open every week, instead of every other like they tried to tell us at first.

Does it bother you that I have more control over my life than you want to believe? Or is it that just don't want to believe it because then that might mean the same for you, and you couldn't blame elections any more?
26   FortWayneAsNancyPelosiHaircut   2020 Oct 26, 11:09am

voting does matter. its why they torture us with fucking lockdowns this year, it's a get out to vote election strategy. they are willing to sacrifice us to force people to go out and vote (since Democrats have such a shitty candidate that they have no desire to vote unless you physically go stuff a ballot in their hands).

Or, you could just pick someone you don't like and cancel out their vote. That's what I do as it's all I can do living in Commiefornia. BTW, Welcome back!

You're not understanding at all. You cannot force the school to open in some places because of the people elected. In IL the districts are beholden to the state government. Good luck getting all the moms and dads on board for a fight you cannot win. It would be a complete waste of time. My district has 250 kids (small town) in a K-5 school, so it's easy to organize. No point. Administration would be fired tomorrow and state would shut the school down if they opened full day.

NuttBoxer says
Does it bother you that I have more control over my life than you want to believe?

You don't, but think what you want. I assume you pay no taxes for the school you "re-opened" based on your comment? You did and you know it. So why not elect school board members that would have never shut it down? Novel idea, I know. Or maybe a governor or state representatives that would fight executive orders?

NuttBoxer says
Or is it that just don't want to believe it because then that might mean the same for you, and you couldn't blame elections any more?

Who the hell has blamed elections? I have some control over who is elected. If I don't vote I have no control. So then when things go south, I then have to organize because I was frankly too lazy to vote. If I don't vote and regulations and executive orders are passed, any "community organizing" I try will be met with the law. You're not making sense at all.

Great point. Don’t vote. Instead, every time a dumb decision is made, organize your community to come together and fire the people that are making the dumb decisions and appoint someone who isn’t a moron.

And then maybe since we’re all busy, instead of checking daily to see what they are doing, we just review what they accomplished every year or two, see if anyone else has any better ideas, and decide if we want to switch the people.

And then finally, to make sure everyone’s opinion is taken into account, we can have places where anyone can go that lives in your town on a certain day. And when they go there they can write down on a piece of paper who they think will do a better job making decisions going forward and put it in a box. Then we will count up all the pieces of paper and the person whose name was written most gets the job!

I think you just solved it bro!

If I don't vote, all the socialists will vote in more taxes from me. Definitely important to vote.

After this election, I have to say that @Nuttboxer has a valid point about not voting. "It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes." (C) Joseph Stalin
