Why is having Christmas Eve of for federal workers a good thing? Christmas is already a holiday, so why do government workers need yet another paid day off, or overtime pay if they work it?

I would rather see government workers get a specific amount of vacation days each year, used at employees discretion. Federal holiday would just mean you cannot deny a worker from selecting that particular day as one of his/her paid days off.

Anything that helps keep our traditional holidays traditional is good with me.

I am still an atheist, I think, but not a hardcore one. I recognize the importance of what has traditionally worked. I see the utility of having a false belief both from the individual's standpoint and from the perspective of a society.
