My wife is kind of mad at me because I can't tolerate NPR to be on the radio at dinnertime. It's entirely propaganda for the globalist elite who fund it, just an infinite loop of BLM, free trade is good! (no mention of how it devastated the core of America), and how poor illegal "migrants" are literally dying to get into the US and think of the children! No actual news, just propaganda over and over.

I recently finished the book "Listen, Liberal!" by Thomas Frank, and one line that stuck with me was that no matter what is promised, all the working class ever gets is yet another "free trade deal" which fucks them over by outsourcing their jobs to boost corporate profits.

So we tried the BBC instead, and the first three stories were got were:

1. How Britain is negotiating a free trade deal to replace EU membership (which fucks over their working class yet again, as if Brexit never happened)
2. How Tunisian illegals, whom they call "migrants" in the same mealy-mouthed way that American media calls Mexican illegals migrants, drowned trying to cross the Mediterranean (to take jobs from Europeans and drive down wages to boost corporate profits)
3. How the police were unfair to black people...

At that point I turned it off, and she's mad at me again.

Are you just figuring out this now?

If you live in California, the 'Deluded Liberal' is such a common species that you can poke them a little, but the likelihood of waking them up to a Red Pill reality tends to be slim.

When I was more in career mode, I didn't listen to politics much and did not align myself with parties, just considered myself generally conservative in outlook. Most people exist at maybe 20 percent percent awareness of politics or even less. They also just don't want to believe in genuine evil.

It takes time and work to educate oneself beyond that point. That is why the off-the-cuff propaganda outlets are still funded. If they can only beguile 40 percent of the populace in their narcotized, Pollyanna slumber, they think it is worth their while.

However, even tyrants fear the mob, which is why they deal maximum oppression. When the public becomes woken up and in retaliatory rage, they can become quite a beast. The question is whether that happens too late to change anything.

You have to repeat the truth with back up facts.

Floyd was a thug. He threatened a pregnant woman.

Lock down for two weeks to "flatten the curve" or 2 million WILL die. 9 months later less than 300k dead 80% over 65 90% comorbidities. Now they want an indefinite lockdown.

Black lives matter is racist, by definition.

My wife, coolest most talented nouveau hippie I ever met, gets mad at me sometime but I can tell she is coming around.

One of the "problems is you live too sheltered. Move out of the peninsula into SF for a few years and have her car broken in 5 times in a row with no leo help whatsoever, homeless tents, needles and crap everywhere so you can't smell any vegetation and random mental people shouting angrily at you while you're taking your daily stroll. That may help with the conversion ;)

Its not just you Patrick. I use to like listening to NPR even though it was left leaning. But around Obama's second term it started going down hill fast then when Trump won it turned full blown leftwing mouthpiece not even trying to seem unbias.
6   Onvacation   2020 Dec 24, 10:00pm

I still listen to NPR, for as long as I can stand it.

It's important to know the enemy's propaganda.
7   Ceffer   2020 Dec 24, 10:22pm

I used to listen to NPR, too, before they went 10/10 on the vomit meter. A lot of former liberals have gone centrist, or, the present 'center' now represents what liberals often used to be.
8   mell   2020 Dec 24, 10:30pm

Agreed it used to be at least ok listening to until Obummer's 2nd term. Old-timers like Michael Krasny surely can't be happy about the shite agitprop npr has turned into.

Women are suckers for this type of propaganda. I’ve been working on my wife to try to red pill her away from the commie crap. It’s been a struggle. Right up until she took a PhD level philosophy course. Wow what a difference! She learned to think!! I’d now recommend a Philosophy course for every woman out there. It teaches them to think rationally, which isn’t their normal setting. And best of all, she loved it! I’m loving things.
12   clambo   2020 Dec 25, 6:13am

The BBC and NPR are definitely lame lefty bullshit.
The only thing I do not mind is their use of “migrant”, because “immigrant” actually means a person legally in the country.
“Illegal immigrant” is a contradiction, but sounds better than “illegal migrant” .
Of course “illegal alien” is what USA law calls them, but people think aliens means 👽.
I listened to NPR on my drives to Carmel to scuba dive, it was unintentionally funny, we laughed at the liberal slant on any topic.
“This is fresh air.”
I’m amazed sometimes at the level of bullshit people will listen to and believe.

Fitting.

The Bibby See, Con trivissy.

BBC went to hell after Obama got elected.
15   theoakman   2020 Dec 25, 7:45am

There was a great course I took at Rutgers titled "Logic, reasoning, and persuasion". The logic part was the most important because it taught people the necessary steps to actually prove something. I didn't really need it since I understood this through all the math courses I took, but it was an eye opener for any non-math/physical science major. Although, if the kids failed it, they likely never learned logic and reason. And persuasion is just through mob rule.
16   Tenpoundbass   2020 Dec 25, 7:46am

The biggest thing that gets me about BBC and should clue you in on the first class Idiot morons that preside there.

When they started their Pigeon English division. Generally folks in the part of Africa that speak Pigeon English, can't read a lick, and if they could they wouldn't speak that way.
So it only means, that their Pigeon English version of BBC, is purely for those BBC Fags to stroke their own Diversity ego.

If I were Black anywhere int he world I would be insulted by it, it's shit like this that reeks of elitism far more than any black face faux pas ever has.

Same thing with the "Black Information Network". Non stop oppression propaganda that any thinking person, regardless of 'color', would find racist.
18   theoakman   2020 Dec 25, 8:24am

Patrick, quick question, has your wife had any bad experiences with black culture? Typically, this happens all while growing up in a town that has some sort of significant black population. In the town I grew up in, there was clear segregation. However, the black people that lived on one side of the tracks (literally separated by freight train tracks) were very down to earth and normal. My best friend from grade school and (still to this day we are good friends) is black and he grew up one block from me. He obviously didn't fit in with black culture. For one, he scored a perfect score on his SAT verbal and a 1500 overall.

On the other side, it was pure ghetto thuggish culture. Anyone in school or in town had plenty of bad experiences with the crowd from the other side of the track that led us to avoid them as much as possible. My wife grew up in a similar town where the kids near the city were literally into gang culture. Anyone that is white that tries to make excuses or worse, embrace culture from the ghetto has likely never been around it and needs a dose of reality.

That being said, I didn't mind living in ghettos. I moved into a bad neighborhood in my 20s while still in graduate school. If you know how to handle yourself, you are fine. But I never once didn't understand who was causing trouble and who's fault it was. And yes, I was even given a hard time by the cops in that neighborhood. They were always on edge because they were dealing with nonstop chaos from a clear group of individuals in town.

This is what young blacks chose at the end of the 60's with the cultural revolution instead of assimilation into mainstream white culture advocated by MLK. They instead chose the example of H. Rap Brown, Stokely Carmichael and Huey Newton because they were "authentic", the only thing that mattered then. From that point on it was endless drug addiction and baby mama like we have 50 years later with 70% black babies bastards.

I enjoy listening to NPR on KQED.

There's also a Bay Area member of NPR called KALW that's operated by the San Francisco Unified School District. When KQED has something on that's annoying (which is often, and becoming more often with time), I can try KALW. Maybe KALW will be broadcasting Teri Gross or Ira Glass or some other content that is more interesting than the Victim Blather.

It's off the topic a bit, but why the f*ck should we worry about prop-13, local funding of schools, federal bailouts, etc if a K-12 school district is operating an NPR affiliate radio station? I am an advocate of public education. But I don't see the connection there, as it's not spending inside the classroom.

Anyway, in the runup to the 1994 Congressional election NPR snarkily, sarcastically and tongue in cheekingly reported on Newt Gringrich's prediction that the Republicans would win the House majority. In their reporting it was said that as house speaker Gingrich would defund NPR. He cited the deficit and priorities. He argued that if people wanted to listen to NPR, they should pay for it themselves.

OK. Fair enough. I liked NPR, but his logic sounded reasonable. I was getting a "free ride" off the taxpayers while I enjoyed listening. He had a point. So I joined.

Oh my gosh, what followed was a tsunami of fund-raising phone calls and mail from every freaking liberal cause you could imagine, and some that I could not imagine. It was clear to me, they'd sold my information to those causes.

So when it came time to "renew" the membership, no way. Of course they "reached out" to me. Renewing was more important than ever, since the new republican majority was a threat. I explained to the caller-volunteer, no doubt a volvo-driving birkenstock-wearing hip 50ish leftie. She told me that I could "opt out" of having my information shared. Fool Me Twice, Shame On Me.

I told her that when they would be upfront and disclose what they were doing in their fund raising drives I'd reconsider. Haven't heard a peep in that direction going on 25 years now.

I know, other media sells our likes and info all the time. I get it. But my problem with what KQED did, was that there was a political angle to it. I did not appreciate them binning me into the Left Coast ultra-liberal category.

"Krasny" means "red" in Russian.

Also means "beautiful" or at least some variant of it does. I took a term of Russian during my year in Innsbruck, and then the whole class then took a trip to Russia. It was super interesting and I'm still grateful I got to do it.

I was looking at a reflection of myself in a bus mirror at some point on that trip, and said "krasny" just for fun. The woman driver laughed. I managed to communicate in Russian!

When I was at the AF Academy, a group of cadets in the Drum and Bugle Corp took a trip to Moscow. One of the guys who went was 5ft 6in and he told me he liked it in Moscow because it made him feel average height rather than short. Did you also notice that Russians as short?
23   Patrick   2020 Dec 26, 2:40pm

I had the impression that Russians were generally larger than Americans. Some of them enormous.
24   clambo   2020 Dec 27, 8:19am

I went to Moscow once for a few days on a package tour originating in England.
My impression of Russian people was attractive and above average stature compared to England.
I believe that they have significant Viking ancestry over there.
The military guys I saw looked distinctly different: short, dark, black hair, like Inuits, I suppose from Siberia or something.
I recall telling people that I saw more hot females in Moscow in 3 days than in England in a year.

Lots and Lots of Central Asian blood in European Russia esp. when you go down the Volga. Ironically, however, those in the Northern Part of Russia are more pure Caucasian by DNA than Germans or Swedes.

I just spoke to an old Drummer of mine. A jewish guy that does video for posh events, and of course weddings, and bah mitzvah.
I haven't spoke to him in a while, he asked me did I make out in the Corona Pandemic. And it all went down hill from there. Bottom line he hates Trump because he got screwed doing some work at his resorts. Though it wasn't actually Trump that hired him, or ripped him off.
But we got to talking about our news sources, he said he respects how transparent non partisan NPR presents the news.
It was that point, I decided not to even try to Red Pill him. The call ended with him saying he had to go make dinner for his son.
He said after this, "The Pandemic" is over, we should get together play some music. But I have a feeling one of us is going to resent the other, even more after Jan 20.

That usually means the eyes. The epicanthal fold just means your ancestors were continental vs. coastal. The weather is more moderate near the coasts and thus less need for the extra protection.

Some people in Africa have it. Also Nordic.

Interesting theory. I suspected that the epicanthal fold was a protection against snow blindness. If you see people from northern Siberia (Irkutsk), you will notice they have eyes as thin as coin slots and a totally flat face. It seems that the Asian epicanthal fold evolved in snow bound area, and when those people moved south in to China (or the climate warmed from the Ice Age) there was no reason or time for the epicanthal fold to evolve back out. Notice that the further south you go in Asian the less prominent the fold. Also notice that Asians with the fold do not need sunglasses. Sunglasses in Japan is a trademark of organized crime.

Your "continental vs coastal" may be referring to almond eyes. I have seen that lovely feature in Africans and others, but never a true epicanthal fold in anyone not Asian.

Nope, I meant the epicanthal fold. We all have the gene for it and it comes out of Africa it's just in some groups it's attenuated. Just look at all that coast line in the Mediterranean / Western European countries. It moderates the weather. Cold, hot and dry/dusty... Helps in either situation.

The reason coastal Asians still have it is women thought it was cute. Women have a huge impact on our looks. More so than the other way around.

Top UK universities have been accused of free speech violations for using software allowing students to anonymously report “micro aggressions” and other behavior from both staff and students. Critics perceive the tool as a “threat to traditions of free speech and fearless discussion of ideas.”

Cambridge University dons blasted the school for launching a website allowing students to anonymously report what they call micro aggressions. The criticism led to the university taking down the website.

It turns out Cambridge is not the only university to have launched such a controversial system.
