A candy store in Menlo Park is getting trashed online and facing calls for a boycott after the owner was photographed at the Trump rally in Washington, D.C., that led to a mob rampaging through the U.S. Capitol.

Sugar Shack owner Suzi Tinsley's appearance at the pro-Trump rally has caused such a backlash in the community that the store closed early on Thursday, reports ABC7.

In a written statement, Tinsley stated that she attended the protest, which turned deadly after a Trump supporter was shot inside the Capitol, "for a peaceful march."

Tinsley said that she herself was physically floored amid the chaos on Pennsylvania Avenue and took no part in the breach of the Capitol building.

"I left the rally when the crowd became unruly and I was pushed to the ground. I returned to my hotel at that point, long before the agitators stormed the building. Just like every other American, I watched in horror as the chaos unfolded on television," Tinsley said in the statement. "I couldn't believe my eyes and remain appalled at what I saw. I love my community, I love my country, and I hope those responsible for storming our Capitol Building are held fully accountable."

After Sugar Shack's Yelp reviews bombed from four stars to one and a half overnight, and photos on the site were changed to that of Tinsley at the rally, Yelp disabled the posting of content on the page, stating, "This business recently received increased public attention, which often means people come to this page to post their views on the news rather than actual consumer experiences with the business.

I guess I'll drive to Menlo Park tomorrow and buy me some candy.

I don't even like candy but I'm going to bike over there tomorrow and buy a lot.

I hate candy.

Will cruise over and buy some.

Same here next time I'm in the peninsula.

I hope this attempted boycott backfires and her business actually improves.

I heard on the radio that the state with the greatest number of Trump supporters is --- California.

That’s too bad. She’s going to have to make a decision soon probably.

I have a microscopic size business.
But I took every dime of profit and invested in stock mutual funds and a few stocks.
Now they can shut me down and I don’t give a fuck.

I will ask them.

They were closed in spite of their hours saying they would be open.

I put $20 through the mail slot.

Another guy walked up and asked if I'm a Trump supporter. I said I support labor, and Trump was the only one supporting labor. He agreed, and also put $20 in the slot.

I hope the owner opens and finds the money, and not some employee who will keep it.

It looks like either the store was attacked online, or they just got too many people clicking on http://mpsugarshack.com/ because you get:

when you try to hit it.

How does one defend against a DOS attack?
13   Patrick   2021 Jan 9, 2:45pm

It's rather difficult and expensive to defend against a ddos (distributed denial of service) attack.

You have to be good with routers and firewalls or pay a commercial service.

She’d do better if she stayed strong. You surrender, they eat you alive.

Admitting wrong is like admitting fault in court.

Patrick, do you defend this site yourself or do you pay a service? Any recommendations on a company I should consider hiring to defend my own site?

I noticed they were open today so I went in. They have a big security guy at the door now because of the danger from violent leftists.

Chatted with the owner a bit. She has gotten quite a bit of local support.

It's all mainstream candy though, not that interesting.

This road Leftists are going down is a dangerous game that they don't understand.

What if the "right wingers" decide to play as well and refuse to sell them food? "Private company" et all...
18   Patrick   2021 Jan 23, 9:07pm

Exactly. Remember what happened to the landlords' agent Captain Boycott in Ireland?

Even if you don't remember, you know the name "boycott" very well now.

All private businesses can simply stop selling Democrats anything at all.
