Would anyone contemplate moving abroad?
I used to believe - hey - US has an amount of personal freedom that no one else around the world really enjoys (I mean a freedom where you can criticize the government or the powers that be and not worry about your job if you disagree with the opposition).
So, now that we know that is not true, and given this won't change for a generation (likely) -
what are some areas of the world where you could/would you emigrate?
I assume other countries are not much better, but they may not have dominate tech companies have here.
Ideas?

I'd consider living in to Ireland if they'd let me. Or Poland. I actually still have some distant cousins there that I've met.

Hell, even Israel would be interesting, and possible for me because of grandpa:

4A. (a) The rights of a Jew under this Law and the rights of an oleh under the Nationality Law, 5712-1952***, as well as the rights of an oleh under any other enactment, are also vested in a child and a grandchild of a Jew, the spouse of a Jew, the spouse of a child of a Jew and the spouse of a grandchild of a Jew, except for a person who has been a Jew and has voluntarily changed his religion.

That covers where my ancestors came from. Not such bad places these days.

Wife and I both like the idea of moving abroad after all this mess. But this lockdown bs is global. Not sure it's much better anywhere else.

A word of caution about the grass-is-greener thoughts. Take a look at McAfee's stay in Central America.
I had thought about New Zealand for a while, but they are part of the original 5 eyes. I think Uruguay is actually a pretty good bet, not sure about their Wuhan Flu impact though.

There are a number of countries, and states in the US that have not given into the fearporn:

Sweden
Switzerland
Japan
Tanzania

Florida
Montana
South Dakota

They were rolled into giving up all their guns in mere weeks after some "attack on a mosque" bs.

New Zealand broke it's own laws when it came to Kim Dotcom. They passed a shitload of laws to encourage investments to great fanfare, and a couple of years later broke every single one with Dotcom, on top of a shitload of other laws. They didn't repeal, they just went ahead and allowed his raid and prosecution for thing that were 100% legal under NZ law and the judges didn't raise a peep. In fact the NZ LEOs aided it.

Anybody who thinks Argentina or Saint Lucia will accept to be cut off from SWIFT in order to protect Harry McDoomer is a fucking retard.

"American judges, pols, and law enforcement is corrupt. But this developing country will never surrender it's principles and refuse to turn my buttcoin, silver rounds, bank account, or even my person when the Woke USA demands it and threatens SWIFT cutoff for their big banks... because, uh, well BECAUSE! Viva Peron!"

Argentina has stolen money from it's own citizens under BOTH left and right governments, right out of their bank accounts overnight by the millions. I mean they locked millions of people out of their own bank accounts, the whole fucking population. They DGAF about Harry McDoomer

My friend in Poland pay $20 per year in property Tax for a townhouse. Fee is based on squares meters, not on market value or purchase price.

Of course we're different from the PRC. Their elites seem more benevolent. Home ownership rates there are 90%+, and about 25% of the population owns more than 1 house. They don't report the financial holdings of their citizens that I know of.

It wasn't mandatory, and largely un-enforceable from what I remember.
