I've installed it under VirtualBox though, and I found it an entirely uncontrollable system that was a bitch to work with. Then I deleted it. I wanted to know what the great wonders of Mac was. It's a hobbled operating system for me. More stable than Windows, and far more frustrating than Linux. It was like working on a SunOS workstation (good machine) back in 1995. It's like going back in time with eye candy.

Yes, I have used one of those /etc/hosts blockfiles already:

% wc -l /etc/hosts
200457 /etc/hosts

That's more than 200,000 scammy and spammy domain names I block. Makes life nicer!

I heard this story about how Mac converted to Unix, but not sure it's true:

Steve Jobs to Linus Torvalds, after they met at some event: "Linus, we are looking for a new base for MacOS and might choose Linux."

Jobs, always easily offended, decided to base MacOS on BSD after that.

EVERY version of Linux today is downloadable, and can be run from a USB thumb drive as long as your computer is setup to boot off from USB.

USB runs are not persistent (meaning when you turn it off, you've basically lost anything you did or anything you've "saved") but it gives you a good idea of what that version can do.

Linux has no marketing, so it's made to be scary and incomprehensible. It's just another operating system, and it's got a lot of power as well - that's where it is intimidating. I've been using it for nearly 30 years, and there's still stuff for it I didn't realize existed. It's got all the ease of a typical OS and all the power of a God on an OS.

I'll help you out if I see a response to this post. You need to tell me what OS you're using now, and you have to be able to stop your computer at the BIOS start to get it to boot from USB. You know the part where it tells you "Press F10 (or F12) to select the what drive to boot from" on reboot? You're going to have to hit the key then to select the boot device, but you can go into BIOS to select a default, if you like.

Mac's I'm a dunce with - overpriced inferior hardware to me. I don't know what the F they do. Apple does their very fucking best to make their hardware only run with their software.

I have two friends that I was trying to explain that to for different reasons.
One my Sisters husband, I trying to explain to him that the media narrative and the perception the public gets from it, is the official narrative.
Rather than trying to understand that, and discuss how can we change that narrative or interfere with it. He boisterously pushed back. "That's bullshit! Fuck the media, who in the hell is the media, I'm sick and tired of people talking about the media. Look at their broadcast views, they get a few million, there were 160 million votes cast in the election."
He couldn't get that those few million watching those broadcasts are the ones, talking at the water cooler, and the ones the politically lazy quote when defending their political views to people how are paying attention.

The other guy, likes showing me mean videos and bad left memes on Trump. I think he's passive aggressive trying to get a rise out of me. So he'll show me or send me in a text videos like Trump in his desk being removed from the oval office by two black moving company workers. This was before the election. I just told him, he has no idea how he's being played as a useful idiot. The Narrative depends on people like him, to help the 1 million people watching the Fake Propaganda news spread the commie propaganda to the other 80 million Liberal morons.

Ubuntu linux has great desktop if anyone wants to give it a try. I have been using it for quite a long time and have a great experience. It has lot of packages to choose.

Thanks, I used to run Ubuntu but got mad at them for regularly trying to report back info on the user. That was un-LInux-like of them, but they were definitely doing it.
