Yes people are angry, but most aren’t willing to do anything. Republican Party lacks leadership.

Can anyone name a substantial difference in the treatment of the oligarchy by either main party?

Republicans generally reduce taxes on the wealthy (Trump did this).

Democrats raise taxes, mostly on the wealthy (Obama did this).

Trump is an old school NYC democrat. He's not a Republican. He didn't represent the traditional leadership of either party today.

He was able to seize control of the republican party, because it was so weakened by assholes like George W. Bush. Now the democratic party has another useless feckless asshole "leading" it - Biden. I would find it hilarious that if in 2024, Trump ran as a democrat. If he did this, it would destroy the duopoly even if he lost.

If he did this, it would shake another 25% of the population out of their cognitive dissonance.

Most people would find me to be a leftist back in 2005 because I was FIERCELY opposed to the Iraq war, in 2020 I'm on "the right", because I supported the first president in 40 years not to start a new war. I actually support and deeply respect the working class, the blue collar class that makes my life possible. I've not changed, the parties have just changed their lies, and that's all they are - lies. I just stopped believing the lies.

The only difference between the "left" and the "right" are what lies they believe - I think we're almost entirely in agreement. We're being divided over trivial issues, but we agree with the large issues which are never brought up.

I knew some poor guy that dropped out of high school at 16. He competed against illegal immigrants for work. This poor man was terrified he would be caught because he was being paid under the table. If he was caught, he went to jail, if the illegals were caught, they just disappeared. That's our fucking system for the poor. We cannot allow this to continue. Our blue collar working class is the absolute bedrock of our civilization and if it disappears, we're next. I'm a white collar asshole but I don't forget my roots.

Good point. I'll remember this.

Doesn't really seem that way to me:

https://www.politico.com/agenda/story/2019/02/05/democrats-70-percent-tax-rate-000879/

Actually, it was Democrats who killed the 70 percent tax

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/stacey-lennox/2020/08/10/and-you-thought-democrats-wanted-to-tax-the-rich-n771105

One of the little covered aspects of the debate over the current stimulus bill is Democrats acting as proponents of repealing the $10,000 limit on State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions.

Obama let the capital gains tax rise from 15% to 20%, and then added an extra 3.8% to pay for Obamacare.

Under both George W & Trump the taxes on the wealthy were reduced.

This makes me a little suspicious that Democrats are really for the regular guy:

The article itself then goes on to bury the amount Trump got so you cannot immediately see just how much smaller it is:

just over $18 million from Wall Street

Of course CNBC is scum sucking lowlife just like all the rest of the MSM, so I would not expect anything like real reporting from them.

That’s just hedging their bet on Biden. Just so if Trump won they wouldn’t get killed with revenge policy.

True but cap gains tax is far worse than a wealth tax. If you ratchet up the cap gains tax you kill the middle class and upper class. The wealthy will still be fine. A wealth tax preserves competition among all classes and ensures some fairness. In fact Obummers 3.8% killed a lot of jobs.

Totally wrong. Apparently you have never heard of the SALT cap and how it slammed the wealthy? Democrats want to give that back to said wealthy...$780 billion tax break.

Trump & the GOP Congress took those additional revenues and gave it back to the middle class in an expanded Standard Deduction.

This alone explains a lot of the media hysteria against Trump.

100%. And what states did it hit the hardest? Big blue states with huge income and property taxes. Most of my peers here in IL that own were near the $10k cap with property taxes alone.

It wasn't a huge amount, I paid more here in IL the first filing year because of our high income tax (at least what we paid). I usually would have itemized over the $24k standard deduction, but none of my property taxes could be itemized because I maxed out SALT on income taxes alone. Fortunately I'm a unicorn in IL and my property taxes are low. So it only ended up being like a $600 hit in what I had to pay the feds.

I have heard that for many the SALT wasn't that big of a deal because of the changes to the AMT.

Am I wrong?
14   Shaman   2021 Feb 1, 7:58am

Democrats are trying to figure out how to repeal the SALT tax cap for the wealthy while keeping it in place for the middle class.
And they’d like to shoehorn that into a stimulus Bill , which is what is taking it so long. They probably have a laundry list of horribles they’re working frantically to write into the Bill That Must Pass!

Then why are wealthy people fleeing Bluetarded states to avoid getting slammed with a huge income tax increase? Enough have left for the governors of said states to publicly scream about it. And the DeBlasio as well.

To escape the local leftist indoctrination retardation.
