In his comments made in the last year, Mark Zuckerberg outed himself as an “anti-vaxxer” – or at least, that’s the label that would be slapped on anyone today saying the things he said in a leaked video clip.Facebook has of late ramped up censorship on coronavirus-related information, including a clampdown on accounts that discuss Covid vaccines, often from a professional, medical point of view.Specifically, under the new policy, Facebook is removing any content that claims Covid vaccines change people’s DNA.On Facebook, the message that must be upheld now, it looks like at any cost, is that vaccines are not only safe and above any debate and skepticism. But that’s not exactly what the giant’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg was saying recently. In fact, that’s not it at all: and if he tried posting some of what he was saying then – revealed in the latest Project Veritas leak – Zuckerberg’s own posts would now be censored on Facebook.“Some caution on this because we just don’t the long-term side effects of basically modifying people’s DNA and RNA,” Zuckerberg said of Covid vaccines.Video Player00:0002:19The very video showing Zuckerberg saying these things would be banned, too, Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe stressed on Twitter, underlining how absurd and hypocritical the rampant censorship around the issue had become.A few months later, though, Zuckerberg had changed his tune saying that “his understanding was” that these vaccines do not modify (i.e., change) people’s DNA or RNA.Zuckerberg made this comment in conversation with Anthony Fauci, who said that DNA is inherent in cells and cannot be modified by anything foreign. (It would be interesting to hear Dr. Fauci’s thoughts on whether or not radiation, for example, as “something foreign,” modifies DNA.)But Zuckerberg didn’t go there and seemed relieved to hear the response, saying, “Well I’m glad we could clear that up.”O’Keefe then points out that Zuckerberg made sure to impose his newly-found outlook on Covid vaccines on the billions of others using the platform by introducing the new censorship policy.Lastly, O’Keefe contends that Facebook insiders leaking information from the giant are not betraying it – but that Zuckerberg is betraying what are supposed to be his company’s tenets: discussion, debate, and sharing of information.
