“Our message really is that we don’t want to see our business owners or others begin to arm themselves,” the police chief told reporters. “We would really prefer them to be good witnesses and give us the observations that they have; share that information, call law enforcement immediately and let OPD respond and follow up. What we really don’t want to do is bring any additional issues that threaten safety into the equation.”

Last time I called OPD about a window smash a couple of years ago they took two hours to arrive. I had to have a police report as a work laptop was stolen.

Wow, that just doesn’t sit well with me.

This will eventually boil over when one of the remaining small business owners gets robbed mad has enough, but you can bet small businesses will leave or stay away from the bay area which will only further the exodus.

When seconds matter, help is only hours away.

Collectivists hate people that can take care of themselves. They set a bad example.

Good witnesses? They don't even get that chance. The charges are dropped by the DA before it ever gets to that point.

I had to have a police report.

Another time my window was broken I called and the OPD dispatcher said the cops would be there in from one to twelve hours. I passed on waiting and attempted to file a report when I got home. They asked for a LOT of detailed information and when the form was complete I hit submit and the system crashed. I didn't try again.
