Other tools:

Tell China to buy more debt, or we will repudiate the existed debt. (ala Soviet Union).

Print, Zimbabwe/Weimar style

Issue a new currency, the "Amero." Debtors win, savers lose.

I mentioned this before, but I have a distant relative in Zimbabwe who got rich by buying land and then letting his Zimbabwean dollar debt inflate away to zero.

Of course he's a white guy, so they might just take the land back, or kill him.

In which the Fed will simply buy all the debt, Weimar Reichsbank-style.

They already are, have been for some time. The biggest purchaser of US bonds is the Federal Reserve. Just wait till the dollar is repudiated, and countries start selling them back...

This will of course be impossible with the US dollar as it is the currency that backs all other currencies. If you're holding paper during this hyperinflation, you'll be homeless. Unless you have hard assets you can leverage to meet your cost of living needs. While loans may disappear, so will income. But the price of commodities will soar.

Ever tried having a disappearing mortgage with a disappearing tummy?
