For three decades, Washington and Wall Street integrated our economy with China’s. Meanwhile, the Chinese Communist Party perpetrated a devastating trade war against our nation. Through systemic cheating, theft, and espionage, China destroyed millions of American jobs and gained a dominant position in the manufacture of advanced technology and essential supplies. Our economies are now dangerously entwined, and the United States continues to fuel the growth of our greatest adversary. This must end. The United States must decouple our economy from China’s where we are vulnerable, retaliate against Chinese abuses, and rebuild America’s economic might, especially in essential supplies and high-tech manufacturing.

The CCP uses America’s preferential trade treatment to wage a campaign of economic aggression. To confront this threat, the United States should rescind Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) with China. Ending PNTR would require Congress and the president to review China’s Most Favored Nation (MFN) status annually. This would allow the U.S. government to restrict China’s access to the U.S. market on an annual basis, should it continue its assault on our companies and workers. A criminal regime that steals hundreds of billions of dollars of intellectual property a year, manipulates its currency, and dumps subsidized products worldwide does not deserve the certainty of preferential trade treatment.

Next, we ought to sever China’s information pipeline for stolen intellectual property from American colleges and universities. China commits up to 80 percent of international intellectual-property theft and is the subject of nearly half of all FBI counterintelligence cases for economic espionage. Much of this malign activity occurs on American campuses and in American labs and research institutions. Yet in 2018–19, approximately 370,000 Chinese students were allowed to study in the United States — half of whom were enrolled in STEM courses. ...

We must also terminate our reliance on China for essential supplies such as rare-earth elements, pharmaceuticals, and personal-protective equipment (PPE). China supplies 80 percent of America’s rare-earth imports — which are essential for high-tech manufacturing — and processes 85 percent of the world’s supply of rare-earth elements. China has used its leverage on rare-earth elements to extort concessions out of Japan and is now looking to curb rare-earth exports required for U.S. manufacturing of the F-35. Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, China placed similar export curbs on pharmaceutical products and PPE. This strategic weakness must be quickly eliminated, and the production of essential products ought to be re-shored through Buy American requirements, tax incentives, and large-scale stockpiling.

U.S. investment has subsidized the rise of China for 30 years. While we currently screen inbound investment from China, we lack a similar process for outbound U.S. capital. We should implement a strenuous review process to prevent U.S. investment in Chinese strategic industries and should prevent U.S. companies from using third parties to funnel money into China. Similarly, expansive export controls should be placed on advanced U.S. artificial intelligence, 5G telecommunications technology, and semi-conductors bound for China. Export controls would prevent China from pioneering and dominating these critical technologies of the future. The technology of tomorrow cannot be stamped with the words “Made in China.”

These actions and others, detailed in my report, would successfully decouple the U.S. and Chinese economies in a targeted fashion. China is not like the Soviet Union — its power primarily emanates from its economic might and financial exploitation, not the extent of its nuclear arsenal or size of its tank divisions. This Evil Empire relies on our generosity, openness, and naïveté — and may crumble without it.

He ignores the core problem though. The betrayal of the US by oligarchs like Jeff Bezos. Their fortunes were founded on the elimination of US jobs by manufacturing goods in China and shipping them here to sell.

Haha!

No we aren't!

Do you really think a senile old hair sniffing pervert, corrupt one at that, was ACTUALLY elected? You really believe he's the most popular presidential candidate in history? A fuck that couldn't get 50 people to show up to a campaign event? An asshole that got DEMOLISHED in the 1988 primaries because he was a serial liar that shamelessly plagiarized from other politician's speeches? An asshole that defended his vote to go to war with Iraq over a non existent weapons of mass destruction program which he defended right into the Obama administration?

We don't have a vote.

We'll have a vote, as soon as there is a revolution - and not before.

I'm tired of people being naive and gullible at this point. Biden wasn't elected. If he was actually elected, there wouldn't have had to be censorship by Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter. There wouldn't have to be "fact checkers" assuring us CONSTANTLY that Biden really won the election, and that AP called the election for Biden, and there's integrity in our election process. That's just propaganda. Biden wasn't elected.

We're not in a democratic republic. This is a fascist oligarchical dictatorship.

US overall is already in good shape in term of world wealth.
It is getting back to 30%+ and China is going to stagnate near less than 20% of world wealth and US may get back to 1/3rd of world wealth.

The issue in US is distribution of wealth at top.
US is still providing 1M jobs to new immigrants every year,So engine is strong.
I don't know anyone who have some drive to be not gainfully employed.(Sorry lazy people, Just flashing degree won't do).

I needed some work at home and trade people are super busy and have more tantrums than a communist movie lead lady of Hollywood.

I agree with the real estate tax on Chinese nationals, but what we want doesn't matter.

Whatever benefits billionaires the most is what will happen.

We don't live in a democracy any more. And if you complain about the mail-in ballot election fraud, you'll just be censored and maybe fired too. And they might set their fascist pantyfa or BLM thugs on you.

Of course you are free to vote but haven't you learned that your vote doesn't matter? Mark Twain knew that years ago.

Stop calling it the MSM, identify it either as the "Legacy media" or simply "US propaganda".

This is a great comment. I'd also like to know in what court are eye witnesses and statistical impossibilities considered "no evidence".

Trump is soundly ahead. The vote count stops in all 5 states during the middle of the night around the same time. Suddenly there are massive ballot dumps. And who would have thought it possible; almost every vote is for Biden. What are the odds of you winning almost every single hand of Black Jack in a row on the same night - in 5 different Casinos.

The United States is a fake Republic. Joe Biden did not win this election.

To win we have to reverse the cancer culture changes of the last decades. Go back to meritocracy and stop promoting failure just to protect the emotionally unstable. Change our immigration law to only accept the brightest of the world instead of ditch digger overflow. Adopt one unified language English to to help with unity among different groups. Dump all the bullshit in college degrees to focus more on science and engineering, if you want liberal arts degrees pay out of pocket for it, college should be hard and not just for the weak to go do time like another four years of high school. Start raising taxes through tarrifs instead of employment income until trade balance.

All you need is "truth in media" and ability of general public to accept it.
Immigrants(90%) of work harder than majority of natives, But they do bring down wages... It is just truth.
Meritocracy is already here, The "very smart" ones are extremely rich. See that top 20% are gaining much more than others.

Workers are hoodwinked and brainwashed to believe that they are the reason for economic malaise.
No they are not, US workers are more productive and have much more participation(Whole new female workforce is added).
It is just that the "gains" of productivity are swindled away from the,.
US mothers toils away from their kids with no real benefit from past.

What we need is more value for "Lower level labor" which is forced to live on $7.5 an hour. It is better to pay them $15 and working, Rather than become "burden on society" by doing nothing.Current US culture has become "Hoarding by rich" and will soon reach gilded age followed by violent correction.

Haha, I was going to say "Pravda isn't that bad today" - but I looked it up, and I don't think Pravda is much different than US legacy media is today. US "news" media used to at least contain SOME news. Pravda is like reading the UK's "Sun".

RT has some interesting guests and people though. Alex Jones USED to, but he's just full blown full of shit now. He's really sold out since he got deplatformed. David Knight was one of the people on Infowars, he got fired for doing something he wasn't supposed to do - call out the bullshitters on Infowars as disinformationist whores. Never had much respect for Jones, but he USED to have good guests on, 10 years ago. He gave platforms to people like Ron Paul and Bill Binney. Jones himself has always been an unstable nutjob, and probably sensationalist nutjob.

Now we know why, in the Hastert Era, why the RINOs were so interested in Bank Deregulation and Tax Cuts, but never doing anything on the Culture or Immigration fronts.

RINOs are the controlled opposition. Anybody who tells you the culture war isn't important is either foolish or an agent of the Man.

I take it a point further. I believe RINOs like Lindsey Graham are really undercover Dems. Their job is to keep the Conservatives placated by stumping Conservative values and pretending to fight. True, the RINO will fight on minor issues, but when it really counts, like when Linsey Graham" recused" himself on the phony Russia collusion. they show their true colors. That fist bump Lindsey did with Kamala was a real tell. The RINO's job is to win in Conservatives areas to prevent a real Conservative from getting in power.

I like it, and I think it will indeed hurt their feelings.

Instead of "Democrats" or "the left" or "the woke" maybe we should just say "corporate pawns".

Everyone wearing a mask outdoors is definitely a corporate pawn.

Really, it was the past two decades, and accelerated after PRC joined the WTO.

The issue is that during the Cold War, no such deals were made with potential enemies. And yes, this even included neutral countries like Brazil.

The problem is that everyone jumped on the China bandwagon so early, that they were blindsided by the realities of the outcome.

Anyways, I don't believe Biden & company will fix this situation.

Around 2016, the United States and Canada reported a dramatic increase in shipment of carfentanil and other strong opioid drugs to customers in North America from Chinese chemical supply firms. In June 2016 the Royal Canadian Mounted Police seized one kilogram of carfentanil shipped from China in a box labeled "printer accessories". According to the Canada Border Services Agency, the shipment contained 50 million lethal doses of the drug, more than enough to annihilate the entire population of the country, in containers labeled as toner cartridges for Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printers.[11]

Carfentanil was not a controlled substance in China until 1 March 2017,[14] and until then was manufactured legally and sold openly over the Internet, actively marketed by several Chinese chemical companies.[11]

Just be aware that pretty much all the writers at the National Review hated Trump and were "never Trumpers" from the beginning.
Ironic - they never appreciated his populism at it does have hints of protectionism that they are adverse to...
Only "now" are they looking at China as the danger they truly are.

Everything that article pointed out are items that Trump had worked on to some degree or another.

Of course, while Trump was President, they couldn't support him....

The first step to beating China is to remove all of the CCP-owned assets from their positions in our government, education system, media, and legal systems.

There needs to be trials, and executions, for treason.

Hell, we should have started with Nixon.

His visit to China set up their successful takeover of the US in the last election.

With massive help from rich coastal liberals of course, people who are happy to see millions of poor white people die from job loss and resulting Chinese fentanyl abuse.
