I was talking to a Russian friend who said he was considering moving back to Russia because they now have more freedom than the US does.

He admits they have oligarchs and corruption, but points out that they do not demand racial hatred against white people or praise sexual deviancy over there.

He said the current US political environment is very much like the old Soviet political environment, where open political dissent is likely cost you your job, maybe get your bank account closed (Chase does this right now), and maybe you'll find armed thugs showing up at your house.

And I had to admit that Edward Snowden, who should have been given a medal in the US for exposing warrantless mass spying on Americans in violation of the Constitution, was instead forced to flee to Russia in order to speak freely and stay out of jail.

America has gone very far downhill, to the point that Russia may in fact be a freer and more tolerant country now.

Russia having more freedom than USA isn't saying much these days. USA is the laughing stock of the world with its banana republic shenanigans. It has already been destroyed by the laugh track: a color revolution from within and without, a true criminal state.

The guy who now rots in prison w/o proper medical care after being poisoned for simply exposing Putin's Saddam-like love of tasteles palaces would disagree with your assesment of Russia's "freedoms".

It's silly. Alexei Navalny is a western intelligence asset. It's obvious he is. He's funded by the western intelligence agencies.

I wish people would stop so easily believing the BS propaganda. Do you really believe the Skripal's were poisoned with "Novichock"? Do you think the FSB is SO STUPID that they would use a nerve agent to kill an ex-spy, and screw up so badly that neither target was killed? There were 3 victims though - the Skripal's pets died of neglect. The cat made it through 3 WEEKS being stranded in a house, but it was euthanized in the end.

Russia would do what the US does - kill the victim and make it suspicious - like what they did to Seth Rich. It's pretty clear to anybody in law enforcement or intelligence he wasn't killed over a botched robbery. How do you manage to murder the guy and forgot to steal his money and jewelry?

The West is trying to restart the Cold War. That's all this is. Russia isn't in 7 nations dropping bombs, that's the United States.

If so, why was he allowed back into the country then? This makes no sense. BTW, anybody who disagrees with the fucking ChK/NKVD/KGB/FSB has always been declared "an agent of the imperialist West". It's literally the second oldest arrow in their quiver.

We have that here in US too. And a lot more probably. Just saying that we don’t let other corruption to supersede ours.

We have the Hoover Institution. The Transexual Blackmailer's Legacy Office didn't spend millions in billboards, hunt down Antifa looters/arsonists by mass collecting cell phone records, and interview not only them, but their relatives and employers, by the thousands, just to charge a handful with "Mishandling Federal Property (moving a podium from one room to another)" which carries a $200 fine at worst. And calling that an insurrection, while proclaiming to their American Oligarch's Stooge Masters that "Right Wing Terrorism" consisting of moving furniture and pooping on desks is far worse than the $5B/30+ death summer riots.

Is she aware of the lockdowns complete with CCP-style "QR codes" they had last year in the big cities? Good riddance - we have enough stupid as it is.

Both Assange and Snowden are political prisoners for exposing systemic corruption within our intelligence agencies and general government. Seth Rich is dead. Jeffrey Epstein was running a child rape ring to capture and control politicians, he's either dead or in retirement in Tel Aviv or the Cayman Islands drinking martinis with Ken Lay.

Joe Biden was selling access to his office through his cocaine addicted son, both to Ukraine and China - the DOJ won't prosecute, and the intelligence agencies prop him up, and the US media creates endless propaganda to support him. Large tech companies use political censorship to expose what has been done. Hillary Clinton was selling classified information which is why she was placing classified materials onto an unsecured server which was known to have been broken into - the intelligence agencies protect her, again the DOJ refuses to prosecute.

Cuomo, Newsom, and Whitmer, and Wolf all ordered sars-cov2-19 patients to be placed in nursing homes. Rachael Levine had her elderly mother removed from a nursing home before the order took effect, knowing it was placing her in danger.

The United States has lied about its reasons for war in Iraq, Libya, and Syria, and continues to lie about it today. The "covid relief" bills are nothing but bribes to large tech as our government takes over defacto control over corporations through these bribes. Small businesses are forced to shutdown, while Walmart, Amazon, chain grocery stores, and fast food chains are allowed to remain open.

So don't fucking whine about corruption in Russia when the USSR is in the USA. WE are the new Soviet Union. Any day now though, that "we'll flatten the curve" one ever small, independent, business is destroyed, an 90% of the population is entirely dependent on our "government", the criminal syndicate that runs the nation anyhow.

The USA has indeed become the new USSR. Since the creation of the CIA, and before that, dare I say, since the beginning of the twentieth century and the first world war America became another evil empire, like Rome.

You know why I exist? My great grandfather got paranoid about what was going on in Poland, abandoned his property and moved to the United States. He later brought over his wife and children when he was able to afford it. He did this just prior to WWII. 2 million Poles went to Auschwitz. Had Germany won, the entire Polish population was going to be exterminated.

My cousin is an ex-patriot. I don't have a family, and I'm not afraid to die, and I find it interesting, but when you start to see foreigners flee, its a warning sign.

Your, and many other's, complete absolute confidence that "it cannot happen here" guarantees it will happen here. You don't think it can happen, so you don't resist it when it's obviously ongoing. You give no pushback, that's reserved for the "paranoid" like me.

1st amendment rights are being taken away, you can be fired from your job for your political opinions, there's censorship, we had an election stolen, we have political prisoners like Julian Assange, our "news" media is puerile, blatantly obvious, propaganda, we are eavesdropped upon constantly, we are monitored with anything we write on social media sites, our skools are indoctrination centers, BLM and Antifa are allowed to commit vandalism, arson, and even murder with no consequences, our intelligence agencies lie to us. We have bills that become laws named so they are the diametric opposite of what they are - the Patriot Act for example. We've been in a nearly year long lock down over a MINOR virus.

I'm so intensely curious to see how long it takes before the sheep realize they are trapped, that I'm sitting around waiting for it with them.

I was intensely interested in how the Germans and the Russians were ushered into their terrible systems. How could they be so propagandized and so easily manipulated? I'm watching it happen here now. I understand it now.

There's a saying that you cannot wake a person that pretends to sleep. The one thing I don't know is - are people sleeping, or do they pretend to sleep out of fear? I think that's my last question. Do you really not realize what is going on, at this point? We just had 4 years of Orange Man Bad - he's senile, he's a warmonger, he's corrupt - that's precisely what Joe Biden is, precisely what he is. Where is the outrage?

The people I thought had actual principles and independent thought 15 years ago, they don't. Even religious leaders have no balls, which drags me back to my atheism, they are just dupes recruited to control the sheep. Ever wonder why religious leaders keep calling their parishioners "their flock"? I think I know now. They are recruited to pacify and control, they are Judas goats. There's a few religious leaders, but the pope isn't one of them. He's probably an instigator.

Yes, the Nazis did kill about two million Poles.

Very few Americans know this.

It is frustrating as Israel has repeatedly accused the Poles as being in collusion with the Nazis - this is not true.

The Poles were no match for the Germans, but they never gave up, and their entire government went underground. They were defeated but even in defeat they never gave up and continued an underground government. When WWII ended they were placed under Soviet occupation, and Lech Wałęsa appeared. He was flawed certainly, but I think he had true ethics. I have a great deal of respect for the Poles. They have the tremendous unbending ethics and it appears over and over again. I'm privileged to be descended from them.

I think I'm Irish or Scottish as well that went though similar turmoil, but from my father's lineage, it's more murky. I respect principled survivors.

Even today, you can see the ethics of the Poles. They reject the invasion of their nation by refugees, and they will not apologize of their supposed and non existent complicity with the Nazis. And I'm fully aware of where Auschwitz was located. The Slavs are a strong people whom I respect. I'm a shadow of them.

I hope my father's true lineage is Scottish or Irish. That would be a privilege as well. I have a great deal of respect for resistance. The best people on our planet rejected authority not for their own gain, but out of principle. Principles are all that matter. As the most powerful entities on this planet, above all, we must have principles. We control evolution, at least for now.

When Gestapo knocks on their door they will understand everything. Having said that, it is more likely that US will become Northern Venezuela, with BLM as collectivos.

I think you mean the FBI there.

Stanford University actually has something called the Hoover Institution. (It's housed in Hoover Tower, the tall tower often seen on the left in broad pictures of the campus entrance.) Don't let the name fool you; this is as conservative a think-tank as it gets in academia these days. You'll recognize these names: George Shultz, Condoleezza Rice, James Mattis.

That friend might have more freedom in Russian than in the USA (and especially in silicon valley), but that doesn't speak to the headline, which seems to imply a general freedom benefit in Russia.

I'm guessing your friend has generated some wealth from a decade working in silicon valley. Even if it's only $1MM, that'll buy an opulent and care-free retirement in many poor countries.

Your friend's example doesn't apply across the broader populations of the two countries. The majority of Russians are fairly poor and don't have ample opportunities to move up the income ladder. And being poor in a poor country is going to be a pretty limited life experience.

Moscow hit by queues and jams as coronavirus travel permits brought in

April 15, 2020

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Moscow introduced a travel permit system on Wednesday to help it police a lockdown meant to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, a move that initially created traffic jams and long queues of people wanting to use the metro.

The system's introduction coincided with a record daily rise of 3,388 in the number of confirmed Russian cases of the virus, taking the nationwide tally to 24,490. The coronavirus response centre said 198 people had died, an overnight rise of 28.

Moscow, the worst-hit region, has imposed a city-wide lockdown, ordering its 12.7 million residents not to leave home except to buy food, get urgent medical treatment, walk the dog or go to work if absolutely vital and their business is open.

From Wednesday, any Moscow resident travelling by car or public transport had to show a permit containing a number code or a machine-readable "QR" barcode to justify their travel.

In the morning, photographs circulating on social media showed queues of hundreds of people standing close to one another in masks as they tried to enter the city's metro stations.

I've been investing in it since energy concentration is moving from west to the east! Russia can turn off Europe's energy yikes! The county and it;s citizens are also in good fiscal shape.
