There is a movie I really want to see called "Arracht", which means "monster" in Irish Gaelic. The movie is largely in Irish, and I've been studying the language for years.

It's been out since 2019, but I can't find it on any streaming service or on DVD.

If anyone can figure out how to get it, please let me know.

Finally got an answer from the makers:

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for getting in touch. As of now, we are waiting on an Irish cinematic premiere. Once we are able to launch in cinemas, we hope to make it more accessible to people both in Ireland and abroad.

Please keep an eye on our social media platforms in the meantime, as it is here that the most up to date information will be shared.

Many thanks,
Triona

@Patrick

Um... I'm impressed I can't find it.

So based on that, this film is either highbrow art of some sort or it's complete garbage. You need somebody with enough technical experience to know what they are doing to make it widely available so somebody with some technical ability would have to have access to the film.

Looking on Wikipedia (it's still useful for NON political information) it is a period piece of the Irish famine of the 1800's. I can see it's in Gaelic. I'm sure you've already found the page for the film which is here: http://www.macallateo.com/productions/arracht/.

There's no indication it has been released on physical media, which would also explain why it's not available. Running over to a youtube trailer, and sorting the comments by "newest first" it is apparent it's not available yet in any physical format, and it's not shown up on any streaming services. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYmZ8mPrm5A

It's called "My Name Is Yu Ming".

Yes, thanks, I've run across the Yu Ming short film before in doing searches for such thing. There are a surprising number of short movies in Irish Gaelic, and they really help in learning the language.

There's also a TV series entirely in Irish that has been going on for decades:
