Hong Kong Epoch Times Printing Press Attacked by Hammer-Wielding Intruders

BY FRANK FANG April 12, 2021

Four intruders barged into the printing plant of the Hong Kong edition of The Epoch Times in the early hours of April 12, damaging computers and printing equipment in an attack believed to be the latest effort by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to silence the news outlet.

In an attack on the same facility in November 2019, four masked men set fire to two printing presses; the perpetrators are still at large.

Cheryl Ng, a spokeswoman for the Hong Kong edition, said the intrusion was characteristic of the CCP and had the aim of silencing an independent outlet from reporting on topics that are taboo to the communist regime.

Ng, who condemned the attack, said it was a crime against Hong Kong’s freedom of speech.

The Epoch Times, one of the few independent media outlets in Hong Kong, is known for its uncensored coverage of China, including political infighting within the CCP, the regime’s human rights violations against ethnic minorities and religious groups, and Beijing’s propaganda and influence operations abroad.

The Hong Kong edition also has provided extensive independent coverage of the city’s pro-democracy movement, which started in June 2019 but subsided in July 2020 when Beijing imposed a draconian national security law on the China-ruled city. The law has further stripped Hong Kong’s dwindling autonomy, in particular the city’s press freedoms.

In a statement, the Hong Kong edition of The Epoch Times condemned the CCP for creating “white terror” in Hong Kong, while calling on the international community to monitor Hong Kong’s freedom of speech, which is under siege by the communist regime.

Intrusion
About 4:38 a.m. on April 12, a female employee of the printing press returned to the shop, where she spotted a man in his 30s standing nearby, while chatting on his cellphone.

When the employee tried to close a sliding door, the man suddenly walked up and stood in the doorway, preventing it from being shut.

The man then angrily questioned the female employee, asking her to have ‘Mr. Chu’ come out and meet him. When the employee responded that there was no such person, the man refused to walk away.

Suddenly, three other men arrived and pushed their way into the facility. Two of them carried sledgehammers, and one of them carried a plastic bag with a knife in it.

They shouted at another employee: “Go away. Go away. It is none of your business. Go away. Don’t force me to do anything.”

After barging in, the men started hammering on the printing equipment. Among the items damaged were the printing press’s central control panel and several computers. One of the men also tossed construction debris from his bag onto the equipment.

The intrusion, which was captured on video, lasted about two minutes. When the men left, they stole a computer before fleeing in a white van.

The printing plant staff then called the police, who arrived shortly afterward.

The printing site, established in February 2006, has been attacked four previous times. That month, thugs broke into the building and damaged the newly purchased equipment.

In October 2012, thugs failed to smash open a gate in an attempt to break into the print shop. About two months later, seven men toting toolboxes appeared and began trying to break through the gate; they fled after police were called.

The Nov. 19, 2019, arson attack resulted in damages of more than $40,000. That day, four individuals, who were dressed in black in an apparent attempt to disguise themselves as Hong Kong democracy protesters, lit a fire that activated the warehouse’s sprinkler system.

Several U.S. senators, as well as the rights groups Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists, and the Foreign Correspondents Club in Hong Kong all spoke out against the arson attack.

Ng said that the company’s Hong Kong edition won’t bow to violent threats, and is in the process of repairing the damage. She expressed hope that the Hong Kong police will solve the case and bring the four men to justice.

She urged Hongkongers to continue to support the newspaper.

An interesting twist on the grounded Suez Evergreen container ship from Turkish commentators: in addition to the trafficking and weapons rumors, it is alleged that the containers contained highly specialized chemicals that the Globalists were planning to use in conjunction with 5G radiation to cause massive Global Warming false flag. They were to release the false flag to cause climate catastrophe. It was intended to follow up on Covid fraud and induce fear that would allow the Globalists to spread terror and further their One World Agenda.

They state that the Evergreen grounding was a joint mission by several nations against the Globalist Conspiracy, the chemicals were confiscated and destroyed, costing the Globalists enormous billions and billions in losses since the chemicals were very expensive to manufacture. This was also intended through Gates et alia. to dominate agriculture and meat production, and force his fake lab meats on the world.

Take it for what you will. The chemical contamination of the atmosphere was supposed to segue with the Global Warming conferences planned for later in the year, and act as a follow up to Covid terrorism.

Don't ask me if this is true or not, but it is certainly consistent with Globalist lies and treachery. As news has told, Gates and CCP are buying up enormous swatches of farm land in various countries, and you know they aren't doing it for the good of mankind.

Fuck that. I just got a quarter of a cow yesterday from a local farmer. Had to buy a standalone freezer for it. I'll stick with the real stuff. Moving forward this is how I'll probably do it, this was the first time. I can at least meet the cow and see if I like him or not. The amount of ground beef should last a year for sure. And steak dinners every week or so. Some other parts good for a stew.

I'd suggest everyone try to do this if you like your meat.. lol. That way you're not giving money to huge corporate cattle farmers and their processors. You just get actual beef without all the bullshit they feed them and put in/on the meat. Buy from the people that eat what they sell.

Probably hard in CA as I don't recall see many cows out there in my travels. Maybe I wasn't paying attention or they're off in the more rural areas.

We do a lot of business with a local farmer around here as well and supplement with Butcher Box [butcherbox.com].

I don't know how/why people eat this fake meat/food/processed crap.

We had been toying with it for years getting full or half cows. Dipped our feet into it with 1/4 now that we have a 3rd boy. I'm excited. Buying the freezer wasn't a big hit, but that was an extra cost. But now we have it so future purchases of meat will lower the overall cost. Including freezer this buy was theoretically more expensive than buying at a butcher or grocery store. Next buy will be substantially cheaper than g-store prices.

I cooked more over the winter this year with covid, but I'm 100% the summer cook/griller. I've now got a grocery store of beef in my basement (that sounds wrong, lol) that I can walk down and grab almost any cut I want for a while. Also supporting a local farmer and I know that beef isn't dumped full of preservatives or shit to make it look red.

And supposedly the freezer is only $34 per year. Problem now is I need to do an inventory since we did a split with 3 couples total and some people asked for different cuts, etc. We're stuck in the Apple eco system so I'll have to create a note and inventory what meat and quantity we have (unless someone has another app/suggestion). We still have two other standard fridge/freezers with meat. Makes it easier knowing what you have instead of opening 3 freezers when you're prepping for the next day.

Next up might to a whole home backup gas generator. I'd guesstimate we have about $2k of food in the house now. Power goes out for an extended period we're fucked.

Drive past Stockton. If you don't see them you will smell them.

This is what I got for the same reason. Best thing is that I can use my BBQs propane tanks so engine stays clean and no worries about storing gas, but if in a pinch still can use gas. Remember starting watts on fridge is about double its its running watts because of compressor.

Huh? There are cows right smack in the middle of East Bay in SFBA. In Hayward, Fremont, Dublin, Pleasanton, San Ramon - you can literally see them from the residential streets and many trails go straight through cow pastures.

I buy Wagyu beef from Snake River Farms. It's pricey but worth it to get really high quality meat.

I avoid SFBA like the plague. So that might be the problem. I only went there when I was like 8 and 17. There's a reason I don't go back...

Northern and Southern CA I like very much. CA isn't a bad state. Just bad actors. It's the same here in IL. I've gone from top to bottom of CA and I simply don't recall seeing noticeable amounts of livestock anywhere. I may not have been paying attention. When I was 17 I was stoned out of my mind and when I was 8 I do remember San Francisco well. Wasn't a fan either time through the area. Is what it is. Just didn't notice cows. Otherwise it's been socal my last 3 visits as an adult and with kids.

I like San Diego and that general region over to Palm Springs area. I don't like LA, but not certain how you guys categorize the state, if that's Socal or not. Southern IL is 2/3rds of the state for us, 80 and then south. LA and SF are not in the top 50 of places to visit with the kids for me.

I've worked on the south side of Chicago and having mentally ill people wandering your city and camping, you don't know if you're going to get crazy that day. I'd rather deal with gang bangers honestly. They go out of business if they fuck with a white person. A homeless person could just walk up and stab you in the back. They'll get free food and shelter after doing so. Outside of layovers or SF being a launching point to get to other places, I won't visit that area again in my life.

I know I've been shitting on CA lately. It's the largest state driving the covid fear though and that pisses me off. Level heads need to prevail and CA has too much influence nationally. And same with the East Coast that per capita killed the most. People point to FL as the unmasked place, but most the country gives zero shits about covid as well. No one from CA or NY is going to central IL or say MO to see what reality is.

It's no different than me saying I didn't notice cattle even though you have them. No one cares about covid in flyover country, yet the coastal areas drive the narrative with virus porn. So it's still a topic in flyover country and it's annoying at this point. It's already run through our small communities, yet we still have to hear about it day after day.

I try to avoid subscriptions because they keep on draining money whether you use them or not, but here are two ways to support The Epoch Times without a subscription:

https://subscribe.theepochtimes.com/p/?page=donate01

https://epochshop.com/

I have no arrangement with The Epoch Times, get no kickback etc. I just want to help promote them as an alternative to the corrupt US media.

I have a subscription and have had one for six months. It’s the best source for news I know about.

Eric,

He doesn't live here. He doesn't know. Here in SJ, sitting at a desk while I type this from the crowded Silicon Valley floor in East SJ, if I had field glasses I could see through the window that's behind the computer screen, the cows at pasture in the East SJ Hills. Of urban Silicon Valley. They're about a mile from where I sit.

We don't know much about where he's from either. But nor do we claim to. We stick to what we know.

Epoch times is reverse of CCP propaganda. I guess if you take the mean, there is a chance to know the truth.
I have general allergy to propaganda.
15   Patrick   2021 May 8, 9:31pm

Yes, I know the Epoch Times is strongly opposed to the CCP, but that's OK with me. Aside from discussions of China, they seem pretty neutral to me.
