Coca-Cola, whose CEO denounced the Georgia voting bill, is now striking a conciliatory tone after coming under pressure from conservatives. ...

Liberal activists had pushed the company to condemn the legislation, with protesters holding a “ die-in” at Atlanta’s World of Coca-Cola last month in Atlanta. Some demonstrators, including a bishop at an African Methodist Episcopal Church, even advocated for a boycott. The company soon came out swinging against the law.

“We want to be crystal clear and state unambiguously that we are disappointed in the outcome of the Georgia voting legislation,” said Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey in a statement earlier this month. “Throughout Georgia’s legislative session we provided feedback to members of both legislative chambers and political parties, opposing measures in the bills that would diminish or deter access to voting.”

Quincey was even more vociferous in censuring the voting law during an appearance on CNBC where he called the legislation “unacceptable” and a “step backwards.”

After Coca-Cola’s denunciation, the pendulum swung back the other way, and the company became a target for those on the Right who were upset about Coca-Cola’s stance on the bill.

Former President Donald Trump called on his supporters to boycott the soft drink manufacturer, among other companies, as did Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky. “Don’t go back to their products until they relent. We can play the game better than them,” Trump said in an April 3 statement.

I want a list of all 100 companies the CEOs who met last weekend to denounce this are tied to.
2   Patrick   2021 Apr 15, 10:19pm

This is what the corporations are objecting to:

GOP-sponsored bills at the state level that limit mail-in ballots, implement new voter ID requirements and slash registration options

YES I want to limit mail-in ballots to the hospitalized and active-duty military!
YES I want to require voter ID.
YES I want to prevent automatic registration to vote at the DMV.

It all sounds very good to me.

The only way Coke can relent is by firing that CEO and having the whitest Christmas campaign since 1981 and tell the Race baiters to shut the fuck up about it. They drink lattes and wear skinny pants.
4   Ceffer   2021 Apr 15, 11:06pm

They were hoping the LibbyFucks would, in their magnanimous wisdom, allow them to use real cocaine in their products again as a nice addiction marketing incentive.

"Hey, you can stop anytime, so why bother?"

Unless I'm reading the spin from the other side, didn't it make voting more accessible? I haven't looked into it too deeply, but that's what I've heard.

We're at the point where Republicans say a dog is better and Dems will say it's not and cats are better.... while still owning a dog.

The other thing with this topic is there are 49 other states and some US territories you could move to if you're that concerned about voting. There's almost no one in this country that has stayed in the same house from birth to death. If you can move houses you can get registered to vote and go vote. There's no valid excuse. And that's just moving. Never go to the doctor, dentist, grocery store, bank, family and friend parties, etc. If you do none of these things it's almost mathematically impossible you're alive, besides legit disability and you don't even know what voting is..

I used to think the left had higher thinkers when I was younger, though I still considered myself a conservative/libertarian. The left are actually retarded. I guess logic doesn't apply to voting...

I don't know who drinks that crap anyways - but they do have a ton of other products that are branded non-coke, like bottled water and crap.

Hard to avoid if you buy convenience beverages in gas stations.
7   RC2006   2021 Apr 16, 6:41am

Just don't buy any of the soda product near coke, they put them all close together for convenience of distribution. If you must buy sodas buy stuff near Pepsi.
8   just_passing_through   2021 Apr 16, 8:09am

Pepsico was at the meeting as well.

Make your own soda. Or just don't drink it you're better off without it.
9   FortwayeAsFuckJoeBiden   2021 Apr 16, 8:27am

I’m never touching their fucking products. Even though every single fast food place here offers them exclusively.

They aren’t cancelled trust me, just protecting shareholder value by pretending to say nothing. They never apologized for “be less white”.
10   joshuatrio   2021 Apr 16, 8:28am

Any proof they got cancelled? Their stock price doesn't reflect it.

Or drink the real stuff at least from the ethnic aisle where they use real sugar. I very, very rarely drink soda. If I do, it's going to be coke made with real sugar. Not gonna lie, I do like coke, but I'm as sugar free and salt free as possible. Kind of like the occasional dessert. So I'm not sending much $$ to coke.

Ultimately I don't get the outrage with the new GA voting laws. There's literally nothing prohibiting anyone from voting if they are alive. Gotta stop making excuses for people.

I drink primarily Ice Water and my American Coffee swill.
Although I do put away my share of Guinness, St Paulie Girl, and Becks beer.

I get brewed iced tea at eateries, if they only have canned shit, then I'll get ice water, not bottled water. I actually believe what ever is in tap water is less harmful than the cheap ass flimsy thin plastic bottles that water comes in.

And while Republicans once made up one of the strongest consumer bases for the MLB, things are cratering.

In mid-March, MLB's net favorability rating among Republicans was 47%, the highest of the four major U.S. sports leagues. Since then, it has plummeted to 12%, dropping the league below the NFL and NHL, according to new data. https://t.co/nxF2b3kjs8

— Axios (@axios) April 15, 2021

Those that say this won’t make a difference didn’t pay attention to the NFL ratings drop during the anthem controversy. Republicans are much more apt to follow through on boycott threats these days than they once were. Anecdotally, I’ve heard from many people in my life who say they are done with the MLB until they stop shoving politics down people’s throats. The derision started with Black Lives Matter being plastered everywhere last year. It’s continued this year with false claims of voter suppression and boycotting the state of Georgia for no legitimate reason whatsoever.

Idiot politically slanted companies are now reaping what they were sowing. Lets hope this continues.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said on "America's Newsroom" Tuesday that he did not throw the first pitch at the Texas Rangers' home opener because the Major Baseball League engaged in political malpractice by pushing a false narrative about the Georgia election reform.

GREG ABBOTT: I could not associate myself with Major League Baseball, that had gone out and done something that was absolutely ridiculous. It was taking positions with regard to these voter and election laws in the state of Georgia, where clearly Major League Baseball had not read or not studied it and did not know what those laws provided. The MLB was basically boycotting the state of Georgia, that has laws that are more lenient for voters than the state of New York, than the state of Delaware where President Biden hails from himself - and not knowing what the laws provide...not knowing that the laws actually did not crackdown, but instead expanded the ability to vote.

That's the charitable interpretation. If they were mislead to think that the laws were somehow disenfranchising anyone, that's one thing.

But the worse interpretation is that they know that the new laws are intended to prevent a repeat of the mass voter fraud of 2020, and they liked that fraud and want to continue it.

There was a time RC Cola was iconic. RC Cola a Moon Pie, and a bag of Lance peanuts. You open the RC then pour some of the peanuts in the cola bottle.
We'd get a few dollars picking apples or mountain laurel, and then walk two miles to the general store, and play pin ball. The old school kind that didn't have the flippers, you would have to bump the machine to get it in high scoring holes, without tilting it. The Pool table was always being dominated by the local pool shark hustling his game.
Also available where RC was sold, NiHi and Dr Pepper.

I don't think they care about truth. Its a combination of what is easier for company (aka virtue signaling which they think will benefit them) + personal opinions of Karens in marketing department.

I don't think the corporations really cared about the voter thingy at all. The just didn't want to be doxxed in the press as being "racist".

As has happened.

Easy. Those that could not cast votes if ID was required:
Dead People
Illegals
Fraud voters who cast votes in the name of registered voters who the fraudsters think will sit this election out
Outright manufactured votes trucked in after midnight

When we moved to the mountains of South Carolina when I just turned 10. We were really taken back by Soda Pops being called "Dope".

The dialog went something like this. "Son take my keys and go out and fetch that carton of dope out of the boot of my car."

I kept looking for a shoe in the yard with a Nickle bag in it.

Coca-Cola pauses aggressive diversity plan after chief lawyer resigns

Woke Coke has gone flat.

Coca-Cola has paused its controversial diversity plan — that included penalties on outside law firms if they failed to meet racial diversity quotas — after intense backlash.

The pause comes after the orchestrator of the plan, Coke’s former general counsel Bradley Gayton, abruptly resigned last month after less than a year on the job and as criticism of the quotas mounted.

Some questioned whether Gayton’s policies violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which says employers can’t treat people differently based on their race.

So now Coke is wondering if their extreme and overt racism against white people is racism. Why, yes, it is racism.
