Looks like some city council, including the mayor, voted to fire them.
That must be so utterly demoralizing for their police force.
If I was a cop there, I would hope for the day when the mayor needed the police to save their life, giving me the chance to show indifference to the mayors life at the hands of the blm rage mob.

This is the town next door to me. During the BLM riots they were called to shut down a violent one in Trenton the night before she posted it. Hopewell is a rich white liberal town that has no minorities. They are the type of people who will virtue signal endlessly but prevent any new housing in town to prevent any from ever moving in. Unfortunately, the town is huge and full of farms and spread out. They won't need the police.

I believe the Montreal Police did a sick out in the 1960s, about the time the cab drivers were striking because the Mafia "Black Cars" were being allowed to pick up passengers without a Livery License. Huge swaths of the city went up in smoke.
The Police got their demands met shortly after.

There’s a lot of lawsuits ready to go. Also big Democrat cities and their very stupid residents are in for a rude awakening a few years from now when their police force has decreased by 25-50% due to retirements and resignations.
