This is interesting: you don't actually have to be a lawmaker at all to be elected Speaker:

All candidates for speaker must be nominated by members of the House, but they don’t need to be elected lawmakers of the House. Article I, section II of the Constitution says only that the House “shall chose their Speaker and other officers.” So far, the chamber has only chosen its own members as speaker, but a non-lawmaker is possible. Earlier this year, former Secretary of State Colin Powell received a vote for speaker, as did Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.

Why are they trying so hard to not have him run for President?

Republican Party is dead if Trump isn’t Presidential candidate.

House is only 2 years. He could be speaker and still get elected president again in 2024.

Doesn't say US Citizen either. Dems could put an illegal in that job. Or maybe the Repubs could put in Nigel Farage.

In FL or NY, semi-safe R districts.

However, best troll move would be him being elected from a majority Hispanic district in TX, such as TX 23rd (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas%27s_23rd_congressional_district) which is nearly 70% Hispanic and R, or 27th (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas%27s_27th_congressional_district), more than 50% Hispanic and safe R. His Yankee-style antics are sometimes not appreciated here though...other than in Hispanic populations.
