Eureka! We appear to have solved a major pharmaceutical mystery: Why did Merck attack the safety of its own (decades old) extremely safe drug? Turns out @Merck is racing to EUA on a dangerous new drug to add to its COVID portfolio. They're getting the hang of the pandemic biz. 💰

Sort of an arrow to the heart of the claim that "Big Pharma wouldn't suppress effective cancer treatment or research, because any treatment is profitable".

I'm not sure how much evidence would be required to convince the general public that these greedy psychopaths don't care one iota about the lives of others. There's an incredible amount of cognitive dissonance out there where people can so confidently accuse anyone that disputes claims of anthropogenic climate change as being in the pocket of Big Oil because of profits involved, but refuse to make the same connection to Big Pharma with Covid response.

It's amazing, when I was a kid and studying applied chemistry, getting a job at Merck was considered some sort of achievement. It basically validates your entire college studies and research experience. Merck, Amgen, etc, were considered marque companies to launch a career.

Today, it's clear that these places are scum and are basically no different than working for another Monsanto ... the guys who sue all farmers (when 'Santo crops blow pollen in their direction) and the primary defense contractor for Agent Orange production during 'Nam.

Didn't realize working for merck was an achievement. I think it used to be, now they hire based of minority quota.

They had created vaccine for ebola, and cure for certain type of cancer. They also have viral cancer prevention vaccine.

Have to look up molecular formation of Iverson vs Molinapir. If I find info in.public doing will share. I don't think they can lot of money out of it unless variation keeps popping out

As was Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, or even Facebook.

Now when I meet somebody that has worked for these companies, I have to make a concerted effort not to display disgust and revulsion.

A lot of these pharma companies are just holding companies these days, for instance Roche - a buncha bankers.

They buy biotechs to acquire things these days..
