Newsom just promised to pay ALL the back rent going back 18 months that landlords haven't gotten because of Covid.

To save his fucking ass in the recall election.

Most of it is coming from money the Dem Congress gave California. Which comes from my taxes paid to the Feds or will pay when the bill comes do for all the debt they racked up.

I paid my rent, despite being unemployed for 3 months last year too.

So why the fuck was I such an idiot? (Yes, I am asking that question now)

I should have stopped paying rent, put the money in the bank. Worse case scenario, I'd have to pay it back.

But if I had all the back rent to pay back, I could use that as leverage to negotiate that any bad credit reporting by the landlord be expunged, too.

Best case, I get 18 months of rent free.

(breathe in...breath out...breathe in....calm down)

I am SO FUCKING stupid.

Many a slip between the cup and the lip. Remember all that relief that Biden promised students, and that Obama promised homeowners?

Democrat promises are just mouth farts for the gullible, the perpetual promise carrot that is dangled but not delivered.

ANY LIE to keep the power. Fucking Dem free shit fools don't even keep track. "Free shit is just around the corner if you vote for me!"

Yes. Always pay what you owe at the latest possible moment.

I hate it when the government hand picks winners and losers.

Set the rules and let us compete. But don’t make massive rule changes halfway through the game.

If that happens, it will go to large corporate apartment building owners, not small landlords.

New some actions are 1 time deal because of recall.
7   Robert Sproul   2021 Jun 22, 7:10am

How much of this loot is going to go to the publicly traded Wall Street Landlords, Blackstone/Invitation Homes, American Homes 4 Rent, Colony, Waypoint, et al?

If we had stayed in SF for rent and not bought in wine country we would have done the same thing - wife was totally uncomfortable with it and against withholding rent due to personal friendship with landlords but it was either get out now or stop paying for me. This is so fucking retarded and as @HunterTits mentioned that is our taxpayer money that was transferred into Newscums hands. Dems and leftoids have turned into full blown corrupt socialist dicktators - there should be no reason for anyone to pay rent until this bullshit is revoked. I'm not talking much politics these days and rather enjoy life after moving ourselves from filth, parking tickets and this fuckery, because if leftoids can't see this basic corrupt insane scheming that's going on they are irredeemable. Sure some may be dependent on it, but plenty aren't and it's a mystery how they cannot see that this is the path straight to Venezuela, maybe all the TDS has robbed them of their last ounce of common sense.
9   BayArea   2021 Jun 22, 10:25am

What was the name of the company (ran by former 49ers punter) that was buying up the Bay Area low to middle class homes by the hundreds during the 2009-2011 RE low ?
10   Robert Sproul   2021 Jun 22, 10:31am

Incredibly divisive and unfair just like reparations and student loan forgiveness. Incentivize bad behavior until paying for anything makes you feel like a sucker.
11   Waitup   2021 Jun 22, 11:33am

If this is true, then between this and student loan payment, this country has become extremely unfair. This is rewarding bad behavior and those making rent payments on time and who paid off their student loans are clearly a bunch of losers.

I've just remembered I have had every bedroom in my house rented out for at least 18 months and all of my tenants are exactly 18 month behind....

Is the website with a form to apply for relief up and running yet?

All you need are some of those fake voters from the voter roles. Hey, they can't deny that you rented your rooms to a dozen or so of them, can they? After all, they voted!

You can provide the Dominion scamsters with legitimate addresses, even if your tenants are dead.

They are saying that the $5.6 billion the Democrat-controlled Congress gave Cali will cover it.

Better not. Half the fucking country takes and doesn't put a dime in besides sales and maybe property taxes. I've done taxes for my in laws as they're super basic yet they hired out this cunt accountant because my MIL said so. The one with a kid and $40-50k income paid nothing. Zilch. Collects food stamps as a single mom. We raise her son.

We're incentivizing people to be deadbeats and they game a system the government thinks benefits people. There's ZERO doubt about that. Why pay rent? Why work? You can get the basics by being a lazy fuck with no consequence.

Slightly pissed at my one buddy mentioning my wife making great money over the weekend. I told him that maybe he fucked up and picked the wrong horse to hitch up to. Wasn't taken well, but I don't give a shit anymore. I'm sick of people of lesser means bitching out it. How about I get my $35 fucking k back in just federal taxes annually. You should be congratulating me for doing well like any decent human and not bitching about what you don't have. Make it fucking happen. Good friend, was in a band for a decade with the guy, so kind of married in dude terms, but just don't get the guy sometimes. He's got mommy and daddy money too. I don't get it.

I have also noticed that many people with simple taxes hire a CPA or use tax firm. This is why I think Realtors are here to stay - if people can't manage a basic 1040 without an accountant, they certainly cannot manage buying a house without an agent.

Sociopaths (aka. Dem politicians) always try to drag you down to the lowest ethical common denominator that they can, because that is the turf they rule. That's why they LUV giving you the biggest 'fuck you' finger they can after they are elected, because, the suckers never deserve that even break.

Why would anyone erect statues to lowlife junkies (Floyd) if they ever intended to occupy the moral high ground?

Blacks aren't insulted that they erect monuments to the biggest black sociopathic loser they can think of?
19   PerfectlyFlawed   2021 Oct 16, 9:16pm

If this whole crisis were legitimate - and it's obviously not - they should have done an 'interest accrual moratorium' on the banks, NOT a rent moratorium on landlords. But certainly this has been orchestrated in part by the banks for their benefit...

Of course more leftoid stupidity. However some large cities such as Berlin and I think in France as well have similar rules. For example in Berlin the government can eventually seize apartments or houses that stay empty for a long enough time. It's also worth noting that there is some truth to the dysfunctional state of homeless hobos vs many vacant units, and it's been all driven b y the FEDs disastrous zero interest rate policies. Many complexes and whole blocks are owned either by corporations or wealthy individuals (and their families), and with ZIRP they can roll over the debt close to indefinitely until they get the rent they want. This is wrong, with proper, naturally occurring vs FED suppressed interest rates rents would be much cheaper and affordable as rolling over debt on whole blocks of dwellings would be a losing proposition vs lowering rent.

This is pretty much a replay of the unintended consequences of the Tax Reforms of 1986 where changes were made in the ability to write off depreciation or something like that which had been in effect for decades and apartment owners had factored it into their financial decisions. The ultimate effect was to destroy the savings and loan institutions, the long time source of funds for people buying homes and the scandals involving the condos in the I-30 corridor of Dallas. Deposit insurance was raised from $25K to $100K which of course placed millions of dollars of losses onto the public when everything collapsed.

In hindsight we should have seen this war on landlords coming. Supposedly there is a lot of rental properties in the process of being sold, mostly to individual homeowners.

Obviously not...and no, I don't get it either..If you have to put up a statue of a black man, let it be Denzel Washington or Morgan Freeman. At least they are supposedly respectable and married to black women and haven't assaulted anybody.

That was consequence of the oil price collapse in Dallas in the 80's, which amounts to the same principle. Whole apartment complexes were turned into condos. A friend lived in one and bought the smaller one room one below him for $10K by charging up two or three credit cards. He made that his homestead, then declared bankruptcy and didn't have to pay back the credit cards. Started renting it out for $500 a month.
28   Malcolm   2021 Oct 28, 4:36pm

They are just putting off the collapse which has already started. Zillow sent a false signal that there was more demand than supply, and because of them there was, but make no mistake, the government does not want housing to be affordable. If they just keep subsidizing a few people at a time, they think they can keep supply from the market, but that can only go on for so long. We either end up with socialized housing or we end up with market driven prices.
