WASHINGTON, July 8 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp said on Thursday its political action committee will halt donations to U.S. lawmakers that voted against U.S. President Joe Biden’s election certification in January.

The largest Japanese automaker has come under harsh criticism for donations to some lawmakers who voted against the certification of Biden’s win in some states.

“We are actively listening to our stakeholders and, at this time, have decided to stop contributing to those members of Congress who contested the certification of certain states in the 2020 election,” the company said.

I wonder who their "stakeholders" are...

Scotty Kilmer says they are pure shit, and have gone to hell in quality and aren't half the cars they used to be.
Now we know why, they are over run by Faggy Commie Creeps. They can't manage a bucket of mud.

Toyota use to make the most dependable trucks, not sure if they are as good now. I had an old prerunner taco it never broke down or had an issue. Want to get a new used truck at some point guess it wont be Toyota.

Toyotas are still the best and most sought out SUV's and Truck in locations they're actually needed. I've got a Toyota guy (not dealer, but engineering side) and they're quality cars. Picked up a Sequoia 2 months ago from their employee/demo car pool. I could make a living driving 4-Runners, Tundras and Sequoia's out to Bozeman, MT. Maybe Tacomas but those would be for the soy boys.

The Sequoia is built like a brick shit house. We have/had a Nissan Armada for 7 years now, so same class of vehicle. Still love the car as it was the Platinum package, so all the bells and whistles and has had minimal issues. The TRD Sport Sequoia is like a smooth tank if I could describe it. Just closing the doors is significantly different. Just the thud of the door closing sounds manly and strong... lol. Probably why the gas mileage blows, but we don't pay for our gas, so who cares. I'm not a fan of the climate controls and display in the center counsel would be my biggest beef with the Sequoia. The volume knob for the stereo is abnormally small. Climate controls are not intuitive.

I've rented Ford Expeditions, Tahoes, Suburbans on vacation and Toyota is a better product in my opinion. You may not like their politics, but for one of the larger purchases throughout your lifetime, I'll look the other way. At the end of the day no one is going to Toyota for an opinion. Which they shouldn't give and is stupid on their end, but I digress. They still have great cars. I get to drive in every model at some point including Lexus. Just got a ride in their newest, not for sale Lexus sports car. I'll have to ask my buddy the model. $120k car. Bad ass ride. He cycles a new car in weekly, no car payment. He trains all the regional dealers on how to sell the cars and their features. So he knows every Toyota and Lexus inside and out.

Toyota... I’ve been loyal. Don’t tempt me to jump ship due to unsolicited political BS

I wouldn't jump ship. Same with say a builder of homes that has a shitty political view but makes great homes. These purchases are too large to let petty politics cloud them.

Now if you're upset wit Coca Cola or Nike for some sub $500 item, then by all means boycott. Or if it's a chain store or big box. I think businesses would be better off staying out of the political game. I'm not going to buy a shitty car though and dump a brand I trust to be rock solid.

Nissan has done me very well though if you do decide to move on from Toyota. Have an Armada and a Versa. Both have 200k miles and run like champs. Really want a new 4-Runner, but the Nissans have plenty of life in them and I only drive maybe 6k-8k miles a year now. It ridiculous but nice to have a 3rd car as a backup option. Basic liability insurance is cheap as shit now that I'm older with a pristine driving record the last 20 year (knock on wood). So we have a 3rd car. Might keep the Versa until my son gets his permit in ~4 years. He'll get a free car, but his ass is paying the insurance. Just have to figure out the other two who are each 1 grade a piece younger. Shit gonna get expensive.

We have a 15yr old 4runner and a 20yr old Lexus

Both are phenomenal cars that just keep going and going.

None of my friends can understand why I would keep driving 15-20yr old cars at my income level. I can’t understand why they depreciate new cars every 3yrs.

Mother in law conversation

MIL: so are you thinking of upgrading the family SUV?

Me: no

MIL: maybe something newer and safer is a good idea

Me: our 4Runner is great, has many years left

MIL: it sure would be nice to have a newer family car

Me: would you like me to show you some new car depreciation plots?

Lol

Translation:
"You are embarrassing me by driving may daughter and grandkids around in that old heap. Open up and buy a vehicle I can brag about to my bridge club."

Tell her that primer spots and dents are "Haute Couture" when it comes to "vintage" automobiles.

It's only a handful of Tundras, a rounding error. Most of those folks get F150's anyway, or if they can't afford the payments, a Ram.

Carry On, nothing to see here.

I have a cost model for my vehicles. Fixed cost is insurance, registration, depreciation. Variable cost is maintenance, fuel.

I know, snarksters: depreciation has a variable cost component to it based on miles driven. I'm too Stupid and Lazy to pencil that out.

The biggest cost is depreciation. Nothing beats a fully depreciated older vehicle that's well maintained. Even paying top dollar for maintenance beat the sh*t out of depreciation on a newer one. My 2006 Tacoma is cheaper to operate than the plug-in hybrid that gets about 60 mpg.

But! But! Your old car may break down on a cross country trip!

Hipsters: renting car for a weekend every once in a while for a roadtrip and adding that cost to the overall cost of ownership of the older vehicles just about becomes a rounding error in the overall cost of ownership, compared to the depreciation of the newer cars.

Having just two cars total for the last 25 years has saved me immense amounts of money.

Had a trusty Toyota Corolla, and when that finally died, we got a Honda, also very reliable.

Classic CL ad:

You want a car that gets the job done? You want a car that's hassle free? You want a car that literally no one will ever compliment you on? Well look no further.

The 1999 Toyota Corolla.

Let's talk about features.
Bluetooth: nope
Sunroof: nope
Fancy wheels: nope
Rear view camera: nope...but it's got a transparent rear window and you have a fucking neck that can turn.

Let me tell you a story. One day my Corolla started making a strange sound. I didn't give a shit and ignored it. It went away. The End.

You could take the engine out of this car, drop it off the Golden Gate Bridge, fish it out of the water a thousand years later, put it in the trunk of the car, fill the gas tank up with Nutella, turn the key, and this puppy would fucking start right up.

This car will outlive you, it will outlive your children.

Things this car is old enough to do:
Vote: yes
Consent to sex: yes
Rent a car: it IS a car

This car's got history. It's seen some shit. People have done straight things in this car. People have done gay things in this car. It's not going to judge you like a fucking Volkswagen would.

Interesting facts:
This car's exterior color is gray, but it's interior color is grey.
In the owner's manual, oil is listed as "optional."
When this car was unveiled at the 1998 Detroit Auto Show, it caused all 2,000 attendees to spontaneously yawn. The resulting abrupt change in air pressure inside the building caused a partial collapse of the roof. Four people died. The event is chronicled in the documentary "Bored to Death: The Story of the 1999 Toyota Corolla"

You wanna know more? Great, I had my car fill out a Facebook survey.
Favorite food: spaghetti
Favorite tv show: Alf
Favorite band: tie between Bush and the Gin Blossoms

This car is as practical as a Roth IRA. It's as middle-of-the-road as your grandpa during his last Silver Alert. It's as utilitarian as a member of a church whose scripture is based entirely on water bills.

When I ran the CarFax for this car, I got back a single piece of paper that said, "It's a Corolla. It's fine."

Let's face the facts, this car isn't going to win any beauty contests, but neither are you. Stop lying to yourself and stop lying to your wife. This isn't the car you want, it's the car you deserve: The fucking 1999 Toyota Corolla.
